Chapter Sixteen - Goodbye
After the lesson, Xander and Keira took a walk to the junior training area. Keira felt her heart jump a little and her stomach swirl with anxiety. It felt a little strange to be on the grounds again, now that her ankle had almost completely healed.
Xander took her straight to her group that she had started out with before the incident and Keira felt a need to cover up. Too many people had their eyes on her and it was getting uncomfortable.
Also, she was wearing shorts, and the scars on her calves were showing.
She felt a little humiliated, if Xander had warned her that people would actually be there when they went to see... She would've dressed appropriately and covered the ugly marks on her legs. For a moment, Keira hated her legs, but there was nothing to do now except to stand awkwardly while Xander conversed with Marvin.
Keira almost jumped put of her skin when she felt something grab her by the waist. It spun her around and she smiled to find Liam laughing at her.
"I guess you found new friends eh?" Liam said.
"No, I just, had a little accident." Keira phrased it as best as she could.
"I don't want to say this, coz we only ever spent one day together, but, I kinda missed you," Liam muttered the last part under his breath.
"You what?"
Keira had heard him, but she wanted to make sure that it was what he had said.
"I said I missed you," Liam said, almost shouting and it caused a few heads to turn in their direction.
"Aww Lee, I missed you too," Keira said.
She felt a bit ashamed. Liam had been the last thing in her mind in the past week. She didn't think he had ever even crossed her mind.
"That- no one has ever called me that," Liam said thoughtfully.
Keira was about to apologise but he interrupted, "No, I like it actually."
Keira smiled at the blue eyed boy and embraced him. Liam called the group over and they all hugged and talked to her excitedly. They all seemed to want to tell her about the past week and what they had done and how exciting it was and how much they had actually missed her.
Keira felt warm inside at the love coming from people who were just in her training group. It amazed her how much they actually liked her and for a moment she felt a bit confused. In her mind she had told herself countless times that no one liked her because she was weird. The chatter was interrupted by Marvin, her trainer, for an announcement.
"So guys, let's all welcome Keira back to training sessions," Marvin said.
The group cheered and started with their chatter again.
"She will be joining us tomorrow and will move back into her room tonight," Marvin smiled at Keira.
Keira smiled back, unsure if she was supposed to be happy that she would be spending more time with friends or sad that she wouldn't see Xander so much anymore.
Keira smiled and hugged everyone as they celebrated but the thought of Xander was clogging her thoughts. How would it be without seeing him everyday?
Keira felt a little guilty for actually asking herself that, he was just a tutor and nothing more. But the things they had done and what they had gone through made her think of him as something more. He upset her a lot, but there were times when she actually liked him. Keira looked at Xander and wasn't surprised to see the look on his face. He looked pained as he talked to Marvin.
