Author's note: Hi guys.. Thanks for being so awesome! 99 votes! Much appreciated.

And I'm sorry for making you guys wait so long.. I didn't have much time on my hands this term, school keeps one busy. To make up for it, I will upload the thirteenth chapter tomorrow or Sunday. I know that this chapter is also quite short.

I also created a new cover, tell me what you think :p

12. Journey To The Centre Of The Earth

Keira felt the air rush out of her lungs as she landed on the cold floor of Miedesa's lair. It took her a few minutes to regulate her breath and she sat up, gasping and her face wet with tears. The fall had been the most painful thing -apart from her maflakof episode- she thought she had ever experienced.

Keira's legs felt weak and her back was painful and stiff.

"I swear we fell a thousand feet, aren't there any stairs or something?" Keira asked.

"There's still a long way to go, come on, get up," Xander said hastily and he pulled Keira to her feet.

"No," Keira said.

She stood stiff and refused for Xander to pull her with him.

"There is no tome to waste. Let's go!" Xander sounded panicked.

"No, I'm not doing this. I'm tired, injured and I don't even know who you really are. You're taking me somewhere where no one will find me. What have you been hiding? I bet this was your plan this whole time; get me to trust you just so you could take me to your weird creature people," Keira said.

She folded her arms and looked at Xander accusingly.

"Don't be stupid Keira. Again, there is no time."

Keira backed away from Xander and felt behind her if there was an exit possibly. She was sure that they couldn't have fallen straight down the whole time. She had bumped and bounced off a few things on the way down.

Xander moved closer and shook his head. Keira felt her heart pounding and her palms sweating. She stretched her arms out to his chest and tried to push him away but was futile. Xander grabbed Keira's wrists and knocked her head against the hard rock.

He sighed as Keira fell into his arms and started on his journey to the main entrance of the lair.

Keira opened her eyes and found herself on Xander's back. He was dragging his feet as he walked and his breaths were shallow. Indicating his fatigue. Keira lay her head on Xander's back and tried to breath in sync with him.

When she finally got herself to breath with him, he started to breath even faster. Underneath her chest, his back was wet with sweat. His muscles were contracting and relaxing slowly and Keira found herself liking the feel if it.

"I know you're awake Kaira," Xander said,"Your heart rate increased a few minutes ago."

"What does that have to do with anything?" Keira replied.

She tried her hardest to calm her heart down but it wouldn't work. Xander chuckled and hoisted Keira down from his back.

Xander whispered something into the space beside him and a blinding light filled the hallway that they were standing in.

Both Keira and Xander cowered, covering their eyes from the bright light that seemed to radiate from the holes in the stone wall.

A great, blue marble door stood in front of them. Every inch of it shone in the light. It was triple Xander's height and as wide as a normal double door. A silver spider handle stood out on the right side of the door. Replacing the keyhole was a dark diamond ring in the centre of the spider handle.
