Chapter twenty - Taurma
Five steps, turn; three steps, turn; four steps...
But I can't go now, tommorow is a long day. I'll have no energy.
But I need to know, I'm so sure it's him.
Keira paced around in her room. She knew that there was something different about the ferliobog she had visited that night. It had self-healed right infront of her, simultaneously draining her energy . It could only mean that she was somehow connected to the healing.
Keira wondered how that could happen, it was impossible for humans to have powers. The mind-controlling stare with Xander was a coincidence, a trick maybe. But this, was something to worry about. It wasn't something that could just happen.Keira rubbed her temples, she wished that she had someoneto confide in. It would be nice to have someone who would just listen, and belive her story from beginning to end.
Xander would've been an option, but Keira felt like he was too confused to be trustworthy. Jason would think she was crazy and Melanie would probably take her to a head guardian for a check-up.
Keira finally settled onto her bed. She curled up into her covers and tried to think of anyone else that might understand. If her mind wasn't wandering and her eyes drooping, she might've figured it out. But sleep pulled at her insistently."Hey! Get up, we're going to be late," Keira heard someone barge into her room and pull the covers off her body.
Keira shuddered and groaned into her pillow. It felt like her eyes had been closed for just a minute. Keira felt an icy hand grip her calf and she kicked playfully, warning the person to let go."What a nice way to wake someone up," Keira remarked, her voice sounding croaky and tired.
"I had to," Keira immediately knew who it was, his voice was fruity, and a little soothing.
"No, I could've waited for the compund bell."
"It didn't ring today. It's another one of their dirty tricks to get us to be 'disciplined'.""Who are they?" Keira asked. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, removing whatever sleep she could.
"The seniors and graduate guardians," Raymond said. He picked Keira's covers up off the floor and threw them next to her, "Now go and take a shower, breakfast is in ten."
Keira grumbled and blinked at Raymond's bright hair."That means now! You're lucky I even thought of waking you up," Raymond said.
He walked out and closed the door behind him.Keira got up and dragged herself into the bathroom. She stripped and turned the cold water faucet. A hot shower would make her want to go back to bed.
After washing her hair and moisturizing, Keira put on her bright yellow drill tank top and black yoga pants. She spread her bed hurriedly and concealed the book with her pillow.A call was heard from the living room and Keira knew she had to hurry. She put on her shoes, switched off her light and hurried off.
"Your wristband," Melanie said as Keira bumped into her."Flip," Keira sighed.
She turned around and grabbed it off her dressing table. She heard something fall behind her, but ignored it in fear of being late. Keira hurried after everyone else with her backpack hanging on her left shoulder."We made it." Melanie said as she pumped her first into the air.
Keira smiled at Melanie, but she was sure it was crooked.
Melanie hooked arms with Keira and they joined the crowd of juniors on their way to breakfast. After breakfast, Jason caught up with Keira as she was scanning the chip on her wristband. Keira shook her head as it beeped three times, this meant she would be lectured about scanning it wherever she went. The new system didn't make sense to Keira. If it had a tracker, did it matter wether she had breakfast in the cafeteria or in her room?
