Third person's POV
The day had finally arrived. The day Shola was travelling, Lara felt like he was leaving her for good. Was she right? Was she wrong!?...only time would tell.
Shola kept to his word he and Lara spent the remaining few days he had left before he travels to America together. Every minute they spent together unless he had to take business calls which was the only time Shade got to attack Lara with hurtful words but Shola was always there to save his lovely wife from the bitch.
They got to know each other more. He knew her favourite food was pounded yam and vegetable soup and she also knew his was Amala (yam flour) and ewedu soup.
He got to know that she was scared of heights... No wonder she never likes standing on the balcony. He thought to himself when he found out.
He realized how much she loved swimming, she could swim in any water be it a pool, river, ocean that was how good she was. It's like the sea always call out to her.
He knew she always breath heavily when she tells a lie and she was a very shy person, I guess that part was obvious from the onset. She wouldn't look at people in the eyes while talking.
Lara got to know things she never knew about her husband, she learned that he doesn't eat fish he was allergic to it and any other sea food. How ironic considering he stays close to the sea. He loved working out no wonder he had good physique. He was always restless when he's anxious and nervous.
The last few days had taken their relationship to a whole new level.
“Hey, shhh stop crying. I promise I will be back before you even start missing me. ” Shola said hugging Lara who was already crying her eyes out.
“ I don de miss you already.. Who go help anytime Shade start her wahala ” Lara said still crying
“ Don't worry about her I already warned her to stay away from you and if she still bothers you all you have to do is give me a call and I will set that bitch straight. ”
Lara was the type who didn't know how to speak back at others especially when it comes to being insultive and Shade made sure to give her Daily Dose of insults.
“okay ”
“that's my baby, Jamal will give you your phone as soon as he gets back from dropping me off at the airport, he forgot to get the the phone yesterday when he went out so he will just buy it today and teach you on how to use it. He will save my number and his on the phone so you could call me and you can call him if you ever need anything while I'm away ”
“I go miss you ”
“I will miss you too so much I've got to go now baby,my flight is in next one hour and I have to be there before then ” Shola said loosening Lara's hold on him
“ Shola please no go, no travel leave me ” she started another round of crying
Here we go again.. Shola thought.
This was the same thing that happened yesterday. Actually he was supposed to leave yesterday but because of Lara crying and pleading he ended up missing his flight. Thank God for his connection he was able to easily get into another flight going to America today and he didn't plan on missing this one too.
“Jamal let's go, Safiiya please take care of my wife ” Safiiya stepped forward and pulled Lara away from Shola.
Lars's face was already a horror scene. Her long black hair was all over her face with tears making them stick to her face .
Shola felt bad leaving her but he didn't have any other choice, he needed investors for his new company.
“Shola you're running late ” Jamal said
“OK let go ” Shola hugged Lara one last time and kissed her on her lips. This was the first real kiss they had shared except for the one that happened that night which was as a result of the heat of the moment but this was different it was gentle, slow and full of passion, It was her saying he shouldn't go and he saying she should wait for him.
“ehehm ” someone cleared their throat and pulled the couple out of their little world back to reality.
Shola removed her hands from around him and entered into the car. Jamal and the driver followed suit. The driver started the car and began driving towards the gate.
Lara became still, it was like it just dawned on her that Shola was really going and she began another round of cry.
“Lara it's OK, he will be back in the next three month” Safiiya tried calming her down.
As soon as the car drove out of the gate Lara pulled out of Safiiyas' grip and started running after the car crying.
“Lara come back please ”
“Lara....lara ”Safiiya was calling her but she didn't respond she continued chasing the car.
At first the three in the car didn't notice
“Shola wait, Shola ” Shola thought he was beginning to hear things that was when the driver said “oga see madam de follow us ”
Shola and Jamal both turned back and saw Lara running and crying.
Lara kept on crying, calling and begging Shola not to go. She didn't notice the stone on the way and she hit her foot and fell down.
“Lara... Lara ”
She turned and saw Safiiya running towards her by the time she looked forward she didn't see the car again. He was gone ...
“Lara why did you do that? Oh my God what happened to your leg ” Lara told her about the stone being on the road and she not looking at the ground ended up stumbling upon it.
“oh sorry dear.. Come you have a visitor ” Lara was surprised who could it be. She wasn't expecting anyone.
“visitor? Who? ”
“your Grandma ”
