“yes, coming!!” she said cutting her grandma off .she goes into the kitchen to see her grandma packing up the fishes for her to go sell..
“na since I don de shout ur name ”her grandma said to her as soon as she steps into the kitchen (I have being shouting your name)
“no vex I bin de baff ”Lara said (don't be mad I was taking my bath)
“ na wetin u de always talk b dat wen no b say u be mamii-water ”her grandma said laughing “u know say ur grandpa go de wait make u cum collect d remaining fish ”her grandma reminded her that she had to go and collect some from her grandpa by the shore..(that's what you always say, are you you a mermaid?)/(you do know that your grandpa will be waiting for you to come collect the remaining fishes) .
“haa!! I don de go bye bye ”she said hurrying out (haa! am going already bye bye)
“òdâ bó” grandma said in Yoruba language (good bye)
Lara hurried down to the shore to meet her grandpa in time before he loses his patience while waiting for her..
“yeeh” lara shouted as she bumped into someone in her haste to go meet her grandpa making all the fishes she got in her bowl fall on the sand (ouhch )
“oga abeg no vex, I bin de hurry ne”she said to the person she bumped into hoping whoever it is won't be mad she bent down and begin to pick her fish not even looking up to see who it was (please don't be angry sir, I was in a hurry)
“no problem next time be careful ”he said looking down at her though he couldn't see her face and he continued going his way..
“if na sum people dem for de vex say I pour fish water for their bo...”she was still talking when she looked up and realized that the person she was talking to was no longer there. “where iyn go naw naw naw? ”she asked to no one in particular “ooh I don c am for dere, dis man gentle sef he no cos wahala ”she was happy he didn't shout at her. After picking up her fish she went to meet her grandpa (if it was some other people they would have being angry at me pouring them fish water) /(where did he go to just now) /(ooh look at him over there, he's such a gentleman he didn't cause any trouble) .
“grandpa mô tí dê” she said to him in Yoruba. (grandpa am here).
“latî árô tî mö tîn duro dè è”he said trying to look angry but it didn't work because she gave him her cute puppy eyes which he couldn't resist. (I have being waiting for you since in the morning)
“u no baff dis morning ? U de smell like fish ” he asked her with a look that says he is trying to annoy her.. (didn't you take your bath this morning?,u smell like fish)
“I kuku baff but person baff me second round with fish water ”she said as she started telling her grandpa about how she bumped into someone and him being a gentle man and all (I actually took my bath but I got bathed a second with fish water).
“oooh! But how cum say u no know d person u suppose know everybody wei de dis small island ”grandpa said alittle curious as to why she doesn't know the person since its just a small island with only a few people living on it (oooh! but how comes don't you know this person you ought to know the people on this island considering it's small)
“yes i know everybody for dis island.. Maybe iyn jes cum see how d place fine just like all dos people wei de always cum”she explained to her grandpa as they were arranging the fishes in her bowl so she could go sell them on the other island which is much bigger than theirs' and people living there are educated and rich so they don't involve themselves in fishing other than for fun. (yes i know everybody on this island.. Maybe he just came to see the beauty of the place just like every other tourists that do come)
“na true”grandpa said as he helped her get into a boat going to the Big Island that is called banana island .(that's true)
“ok bye bye ”Lara waved at her grandpa as the boat begins to row away.
She was humming to a song her grandma taught her when she suddenly caught sight of something going deep into the ocean actually someone not something, she immediately panicked and told the people that were on the boat with her.
Make una see dat person for dere wei de sink inside water make we help am” Lara was scared for the person even though she didn't know who it was .about five of them jumped into the water including Lara she was actually a good swimmer so she was pretty much ahead of them. (you guys should see that person over there he's drowning let's help him)
By the time she got to the person his eyes were closed and his breathing was very slow.she put her arms around him and started swimming to shore carrying him with her with the help of the other people.
Immediately they got to the shore they laid him down most of them didn't know what to do. Lara got on her knees intertwine her fingers and started pressing it on his chest she didn't know what she was doing since people living in the island don't usually drown since they all know how to swim well even the children amongst them but she had seen the tourist do the same thing to someone once when they came to the island and the lady went to swim without knowing how to swim very well.
Lara just continued doing that then she noticed the clothes he was wearing it was the same clothes the the man she bumped into was wearing. Even though she didn't see his face she saw what he had on,then it clicked in her head they were the same person..the drowning man and the man she bumped into .
After pressing her hands against his chest for awhile and he hasn't opened his eyes, she did the other thing she also saw the tourist do....breathe Into his mouth.
The people around her were looking at her with wide eyes as they were surprised she was kissing the stranger.she was lost in what she was doing until she felt water splashed on her face wondering where it came from she looked down and saw that the water came from the stranger's mouth ooh thank God he is awake ..she thought to herself before looking up to met his eyes
She froze when she saw the most beautiful mesmerizing eyes she'd ever seen....
