Cooker Luxury Ltd was jointly run by my mother and father. After my mum died of cancer I took over her own share of the business and it made me own fifty percent of the shares, same as my father.
But due to my father mismanagement over the last few years we have been forced to sell out shares to potential investors. I initially sold five percent out of my fifty while dad sold ten of his
I eventually sold ten more percent of mine when I wanted to start up my own business leaving me with thirty five percent and my dad with forty percent making him the highest shareholder and he continued as CEO of Cooker and Associates. The only reason I sold part of my shares to start a new business was to have something that would me mine and i won't have to keep arguing with my dad over little administrative decisions.
Not that i was going to abandon the family business, i would never because my mother put in her sweat and blood to make the company what it is today. Too bad she didn't get reap the fruit of her labour.
And my dad is here spending lavishly with Shade. sometimes i just want to kill that woman. I don't know what I saw in her then but I'm happy I didn't make that mistake.
Here I'm in my office, I own a collection of restaurants called Koala so far there are only three, one in Abuja, Port Harcourt and of course Lagos. I have been working on opening one in the north but with the problem in Cooker Luxury Ltd, I've been occupied.
The Hostels have not been doing well lately coupled with the fire incident at the Jos branch we were left with no choice but to sale out more shares since we need the money . My dad sold Fifteen percent of his shares while I sold five percent leaving us both with thirty percent each . I didn't even bother dragging the post of CEO with my dad, I have got my hands full with my restaurant business.
What bothers me the most is this new anonymous shareholder. I already ask Jamal to make findings about whoever it is. Something is off and I can feel it.
Jamal walks in right away at that moment.
"Hey man, what have you got?" I immediately asked.
"Well it wasn't difficult tracing the buyer but it is at the same time " he said sitting down in front of me.
"What do you mean?" He brought out a file and passed it to me.
" In it are all the info I could gather. Obviously the buyer is from OLA group of companies. Digging deeper I found out the shares were bought by the CEO" he said
"Wait, you mean same OLA group of companies?" I was now confused
"Yes the same one "
"Then why the secrecy?" I know the company well infact Cooker Luxury had done business with them in the past. They also own hostels but are not deep into it like us they are involved in different things.
"That's where I'm headed. I'm sure you are aware they got a new CEO some years back "
"Yes I heard Chief Eniola passed on but I never bothered to know who the new CEO was. Probably his sister or brother?" Now my patience is running out i wonder why Jamal wouldn't just get to the point.
"That's what everyone else too thought "
"What do you mean everyone thought. See guy I'm not in the mood for this suspense cut the chase already"
"Why are you always impatient. Patience is virtue bro" he laughed
"Well as I was saying, everyone thought ..."
"Yes yes everyone thought the siblings were in charge " I would kill this guy if he doesn't get to the point. It was obvious he just using me to play.
