CHAPTER TWENTY SIX: The truth 🤞

I was in my office having a meeting with the heads of PR,HR and finance. OGC was planning a little expansion and i wanted to make sure everything was going smoothly. With the sudden EFCC investigations. Apparently C.L.L wasn't the only company been investigated as the EFCC had their eyes on some other companies and one couldn't say who was next. I knew my company had never been involved in any shady business but we needed to avoid anything that had to do with the EFCC cos we had to look good in the eyes of the public.

There were five of us, Victoria, Mike who was the head of Human resources, Mr James the head of PR,Mrs Alakija who was the head of finance and myself. When a company was been investigated by the EFCC, their financial records were usually looked into,when they are done and find nothing they would drop the allegations but the stigma that comes with the allegations is usually more and usually destroys the image of such company that was why I wanted OGC to have an early audit that year with federal auditors just as a preventive measure.

"When are the auditors coming?" I asked  Mrs. Alakija.

"Tomorrow I think "

"You think? You can't think Mrs. Alakija you have to know. Call to confirm with them " 

"Ok I'll Ms "

"Mr James I want you working with the finance so you could keep the press updated "  He nodded

"Mike mentioned something about needing more staffs so you both should talk and put it out there." I told Mike and Mr James.

"What else ......"

"Where's she?" I heard his shout before I saw the door to my office flew open. An angry Shola walked in fuming. Everyone's attention was on him. I was so mad that he came to create a scene st my work place but I didn't want to lose control in front of my staffs. My secretary walked in behind him.

"I'm sorry Ms,  I told him you were in a meeting but he wouldn't listen " I said nothing to her.i just dismissed her and everyone else.

"We need to talk!!" Shola glanced at everyone.

"You can all leave now." They all stood up to leave expect Mike who stood still looking at Shola with a little anger.

" Alone!" Shola said eyeing Mike. What was his problem.??

"Mike it's ok" I moved to stand in front of Mike. I didn't want Shola causing a bigger scene than he already did and I just felt he and Mike in the same room wouldn't end well. I was abit nervous and angry at the same time, Mike could tell and he pulled me in for a small hug.   He whispered into my ear

"Take it easy, you'll fine " my eyes met Shola's and I saw his jaw tensed. I don't know why but I quickly pulled away from Mike telling him I was ok. " I'll be right outside " I smiled nodding. He looked back at Shola with the kind of look that says hurt her and your dead. Shola's expression was hard to read, he looked mad, sad and abit jealous but i dismissed the last thought.

Mike had always been against my plans but I knew he was mad at Shola for putting me through all the help I passed through after all he never supported my marriage to Shola. As soon as Mike closed the door I went straight to the point. No pleasantries. We weren't friends.

"What do you want Shola?" I was in no mood to chit chat.

"My children " what.. you're crazy. Was the first thing that came to mind but I kept shut. I froze,Shocked that he knew of my kids but I quickly got over it before he noticed. I wasn't completely surprised considering the fact that Lola saw me at the kids school.
