Teruo didn't get any judging from Naoki, in fact he acted like it never happened. He sighed in relief, happy he didn't ask questions. He felt bad he promised Ayase he'd tell her, even though he didn't feel like talking about his personal problems to anyone. Like she needs more problems in her life, growing up with a man like that...
Digging was as boring as ever, although he noticed Ayase being more fond of him. Much more fond. This was making him happy, but again, feeling some emotions he didn't know how to handle.
"Soo, what's your favorite color?" Ayase asked him, still trying to dig properly.
He got confused.
"Why would I have a favorite color?" Teruo asked, not understanding the importance.
Ayase's eyes widened as she looked at him in confusion.
"Why wouldn't you have a favorite color? Imagine if everything was just black and white! It would be so lame." Ayase continued, her mind going off from the digging.
Benjiro poked her and she jumped a bit. His touch made her blushy and shy. Teruo sighed. Why couldn't he make her feel like that?
"You're cute when you ramble, but stay on work. Talk all you want, just stay focused on what's important, okay?" Benjiro smiled at her, continuing to do his work after that.
She nodded and smiled, not offended in the slightest. He really wanted to pick words better like him. Whenever he said something, it sounded way too harsh or aggressive.
"Thanks for calling me lame..." Shiro said as he gave her a very sarcastic inamused face.
She only now noticed he was dressed in all black, and literally everything else on him was white.
"I, um, it looks cool on you!" She said, thinking of a good way to cover it up.
He just raised his eyebrow at her. She just laughed awkwardly, trying to come up with something better. But Satoko's voice stopped them.
"Um, guys, I think we have trouble." Satoko stated calmly, her voice a bit more quiet than usual.
Police officers. A lot of them. More than the last time.
"Jesus Christ, what is up with these people?" Benjiro questioned, looking at Teruo.
Teruo was calm, but he was sure The City Fighters were behind this. They now had obvious enemies soiling their plans. He just didn't know if he could kill off all of them.
Just like last time, Benjiro ran to the tree, unlocking it.
"Miki-San, please go warn the others. This will be harder than next time." Benjiro stated, his nervousness obvious.
Satoko ran the other way.
"Good luck." Teruo told her, getting out his gun.
Satoko got surprised by the nice gesture, and nodded in return. She warned people to go to the opened doors, seeing how there were more open. So it seemed like it opened the other doors automatically too. She wondered who made all of this work, but she had a sneaking suspicion that Benjiro was behind it. She trusted Naoki's decisions, she knew there was a reason she put him in this group.
Most of the people were going to be evacuated, but then shooting was heard. From the opposite side of the forest, there were even more policemen. She got a bit nervous. They came from both ways it looks like.
Innocent people started falling on the floor as they tried to evacuate. Not just innocent people, but older people from the gang, old and respected members. She felt a tug at her leg. She looked down and looked at a man on the floor, bleeding and begging for help.
She gulped. This gave her awful flashbacks. The demon attack. The smell of blood was the same. Death. She stood in place for a second, watching the man die, just like she did many years ago. His eyes closing slowly as he spat out blood. He couldn't help him.
She snapped out of it.
But she could help others, she continued. She was trained for this. She couldn't let this get the best of her. She went to the closest dead gang member and took his gun. She knew how to work with this, maybe not as good as the person she took it from, but she knew how to do it much better than half of the people in the gang. Most of the people here weren't trained, she was. She was going to show it and help these people.
Although, as simple as it seemed, when she did shoot someone, it felt horrible. It was hard to ignore the guilt. The man fell down, shot in the head. She always shot the head, at least she tried. Killing them slowly would be her worst nightmare. She hoped Ayase was safe. She tried doing this quickly, along with the other teammates, just to check up on her.
When they were done, they all went to evacuate.
"What about the other side?!" Satoko snapped.
"Seto and Tsukamoto are good. They probably did it already." The man answered as he entered the fake tree.
Satoko let out a tsk sound. No way in hell would she just leave them assuming that. Even the best can make mistakes, even someone as serious as Tsukamoto or as smart as Seto. She just couldn't.
She ran the other direction, ignoring other people calling her back. As she went close to her side of the forest, she could smell something even worse. The smell of blood smelled even more. It was almost unbearable. Her eyes watered, her stomach turned and mouth started quivering. She still just headed in straight in the moment.
Bodies everywhere. Dead and some of them ripped apart. What could even cause this? What kind of animal was causing this? She saw the three men she left, but no Ayase. She got scared.
"W-What happened here!? Where's Ayase?!" Satoko yelled, demanding to know what happened with her best friend.
"She's fine, she's perfectly fine." Benjiro assured her, sounding very nervous.
Her panic didn't fade, but she got more aware of her surroundings. Benjiro had a wound near the stomach which looked like it was done by claws. Teruo looked very serious, somewhat angry. But Shiro's white appearance was now completely bloody, most remarkably his hands. He looked horrified as he looked at them.
"I didn't want to..." Was the only thing Shiro whispered.
"You need to undergo serious training, Seto. This will not happen again. This sort of brutality is not something that should be happening, even if this is a gang." Teruo's voice was serious, yet it sounded like it was hiding something very angry.
"I'm really sorry. I really hope you'll make me somewhat of a man..." Benjiro responded, still shaky and nervous.
"What the hell happened here?!" Satoko asked, horrified at the entire scene, just wanting some answers.
"Quiet." Teruo gave her a cold glare.
"I just-" She was always ready to argue back.
"Quiet." He repeated, this time more like he was in the start of this whole plan.
"I have the right to know!"
"You don't. You're a newbie in this gang. I will report Naoki about this... This massacre." Teruo stated, turning away and going the other direction which was unknown to everyone.
Satoko was confused. What the hell happened here? She just looked at the very nervous looking Benjiro and the shaking panicked Shiro. She needed to find out. She had to find out what was with Ayase.
