Shiro was her comfort. She looked at the boy in amazement. How did he manage to be the only nice person in her life? The only one who didn't leave her? Satoko was scared of losing him. It could easily happen. She was nothing special, and she was angry very often. He could always have someone more feminine. But he never did look at anyone else. He only looked at her.
But somehow she knew he was hiding something from her. He was very mysterious and revealed very little about himself. She opened up so much to him, yet he never did return the favor. She found it strange and discouraging. She wanted to be more patient, after all, they were together for barely a week. But somehow she felt like they were together longer, probably because all of the shit that happened, he was always near her and comforting her. For that very reason, it felt oddly hurtful to her that he didn't open up. He saw her at her worst, her weakest and her most naive state. But she didn't even get a glimpse of this from him.
Satoko was playing his favorite song now. It was an old song from the thirties which she learned to play only for him. She didn't quite like the song, but she found it enjoyable to play and watch him cool down at the melody. He always did seem very high strung, but he left his guard down.
The song came to an end, but he didn't look any less soothed and calm. It had a special effect on him. He could only smile as she stopped playing. She couldn't help but smile back a shy smile, a faint blush visible on her slightly puffy cheeks.
"You look pretty when you play the piano." He commented, grinning a bit.
The reason for the grin was her reaction. She pouted and crossed her arms, throwing a nearby pillow at his face. It hit him right where she aimed, but he was still laughing at her reaction. Of course, he threw it back, just much lighter. She dodged it pretty easily, looking at him with a poker face. He was such a bad aimer, she laughed.
"Uh, um, could I tell you something?" Satoko started, her voice higher than usual.
He could only grin a bit as he raised an eyebrow. Her being shyer than him in these situations made him feel much less awkward. Teasing her was something that made him feel manlier and her reactions were just pretty cute to watch.
"Will you tell me your deepest emotions towards me?" He teased her, poking her cheek.
She slapped away his hands, a pout visible.
"Well, uh, sort of, I don't know!" She looked at the floor, getting annoyed he made her act so teen-ish.
"Get going then, Satoko. I'm all ears." He crouched a bit to her level, so they could be eye to eye.
She seemed to get embarrassed by that, moving away from his dumb face. Even though he had this demonic feel around him, there was something uncontrollably cute about him. From his small smile to his beaming red eyes and all the way to his messy white hair. She got annoyed again. This was something she felt towards teen idols in her teenage years, not something she should feel towards a grown man in her twenties.
"Fuck off, Shiro..." She grumbled, avoiding his gaze.
"That's not the type of emotions I was expecting, Satoko." He teased her.
"I, just... Thanks for being here, I really needed it, and uh, thanks for being so kind to me and stuff." Satoko's little speech resembled a rant from the painful awkwardness.
She looked up at him, seeing him smile warmly down at her. He bent down again a bit. As she saw he got closer, she got a bit scared he'd kiss her. Somehow, she wasn't ready. She felt oddly scared of it. But yet no matter how scared she was, she still wanted it. She felt the excitement. She did get a kiss, on the forehead though. Somehow that was a relief and a disappointment at the same time.
"I won't force anything on you. Since you've been feeling bold, I'll let you decide when that part of the relationship is gonna come." He smiled at her as he ruffled her hair.
"You're such a dick." Satoko grumbled.
"You're a dick too." Shiro grinned and ruffled it even more.
"This was a goodnight kiss. So, see ya in the morning." He yawned from tiredness.
Satoko looked dissatisfied once again. She only stared at him as he went up the stairs, wishing he could just sleep with him. She'd sleep much easier if he was with her, but it just felt so embarrassing to say. She could only watch him longingly.
"Hm, if only someone could join me so I slept better..." Shiro turned around and stated out of thin air.
"Someone that I cared deeply about. If only this person would come with me..." He looked at her, waiting for her reaction.
She ran to him, hugging him happily. It was nice to have someone who understands. Someone who just seemed to know what she felt. Why hasn't she met him earlier? She was so glad she decided to give this clumsy boy a chance.
"Here's that someone, idiot." She smiled as they went towards the bed.
"I love our cute nicknames. I'll just call you a ludicrous fool for the rest of my life." He laughed as he laid down.
"Shut up, dickhead." Satoko laid on his chest, falling asleep quite quickly.
It was a good thing as well, as the thing that would happen tomorrow would acquire their minds to be prepared and restful.
