Satoko laid on Shiro's chest, resting her head. She couldn't say there were much better feelings than that. Laying on his chest just made her feel so much more safe and connected to him, like he'll never hurt her in his life. Even if the show was shitty, just like now, she'd still enjoy it.
"Do we really need to watch your shitty soap operas?" Satoko questioned, grinning at him.
"They're not shitty! You just don't appreciate them!" He frowned, trying to defend his favorite series.
"Appreciate what? The bad acting or brilliant plot twists?" She pinched his cheek, which made him frown a bit.
"Shut up, it's good to watch." Was his only reply, not really getting what he liked about the series himself.
He knew it was bad, but something just made it very enjoyable. Among all the evil twins, shitty love triangles and suicides, there was just something fun about it. Not quality, but just fun to watch for the drama.
Satoko's phone started to ring, to which she got confused by. Nobody really called her usually, it must've been a false call. Neither did she feel like getting her lazy ass up either.
"Better pick it up, maybe it's something important." Shiro told her, always being the more serious one.
Satoko rolled her eyes and grumbled, getting up from the bed to her phone, which wasn't even that far away. She just had to walk a few steps to the table that was near. She got the phone in her hands, picked up and threw the phone to Shiro. Who clumsily caught it, getting annoyed she actually forced him literally to pick up for her.
Shiro's face went from annoyed to pretty surprised. Satoko got curious as she heard his words.
"Seto? Oh, um, she's not here now." He answered, knowing Satoko didn't feel like talking at all.
To his surprise, she yanked the phone right out of his hand and put it on her ear.
"I'm here, I'm here." Satoko said, not getting why he would be calling exactly.
While the two of them did have ocassional jam sessions and coffees, he never did exactly call her. He'd usually send a text or something. This must be a very special occasion.
"Oh, hello, Miki-San!" He greeted happily.
She smiled. His voice was energetic, more than usual. His energy was decaying over the time that passed, but no he almost seemed like all the way back when she first met him. What could make his energy jump up so much?
"You sound like your old self." Satoko grinned.
"You couldn't believe it, Miki-San! Ayase finally gave birth!" He sounded so overly excited that it made her smile.
But she couldn't feel happy. She could only feel nervous and worried for the poor child. She was scared of the treatment it will get. Although, knowing Benjiro, it probably won't be so bad. He'll make it better. But it did make her happy that he could be so happy about being a dad to a child that wasn't even his.
"That's great! Is it healthy and everything?" Satoko asked, knowing how feeble Ayase usually was.
"Yes! It's really strong, even a little bit chubby if I do say so myself!" Benjiro was delighted.
"And how'd you name it?" She questioned.
"Ayase named it Hana. It's such a cute baby girl, she even pulls off the green eyes."
Satoko almost forgot about the green eye thing. She admired how happy Benjiro was, without any selfish thoughts or disappointment. She knew that not everyone would be exactly thrilled of taking care of a child that wasn't their, let alone get so happy about it.
"I'm happy for you guys. I'm pretty sure you'd be a great parent. Ayase is what worries me..." Satoko mumbled, feeling a bit sorry to be a Debbie downer currently.
"I'll try my best, there's nothing to worry about it. I'm sure she'll soften up!" His enthusiasm was so hard to crush, but somehow Satoko didn't believe him.
"But, I have good news for you too." Benjiro continued, making Satoko caught off.
"For me?" Satoko questioned, not knowing what he could find for her.
"I found a job for you, silly!" He made her happy even before she asked about it, his joyous voice was just hard to argue with.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She thanked him continuously, her energy never fading.
"No need to thank me so much, it's not anything special. You'll be working in a factory that works for my dad's lab." He explains, but it sounded even all too much for her.
"When do I start?" She asked, for the first time in her life wanting to go to work.
"Next week. The factory is pretty close, it produces weaponry. I mean, not complex weaponry. But yeah, if anyone asks you graduated and finished a special high school." Benjiro added, making her laugh a bit.
"Thanks. You didn't have to do that though." She told him, not believing he would do that for her.
"That's what friends are for, Miki-San. Besides, it really wasn't hard."
She felt weird when he called them friends. I mean, she went out with him and had occasional jam sessions. She didn't blame him for that, he had to be there for Ayase. But somehow she felt like he didn't exactly know her, like she didn't really open up to him. Him calling her a friend just sounded like a pretty lie. A lie from her part. But now that he did such a nice thing for her, it felt weird for her not to call him a friend, even though she didn't feel like he was. Like she felt guilty.
"Anyway, I gotta go to my parents place to tell them the good news. Is Friday still on?" He questioned before hanging up the phone.
"You know it is." She grinned.
"Awesome. See ya later, Miki-San."
"Bye, Seto." And he hung up.
She couldn't wait to tell the good news to her boyfriend.
