Shiro woke up, not knowing where he was at first. Then he slowly remembered. All that happened yesterday...
He felt weird about it. He got up, still wearing the clothes Satoko gave him. He felt a bit guilty about it, but he didn't know how to tell her that without her getting annoyed.
He went down to the kitchen, which looked very old. The only thing that looked new was the fridge. Satoko said to make himself at home, so he decided to get some breakfast. He got up at ten, which was pretty late for him.
He opened the fridge, his eyes widening. The whole fridge was full of hamburgers from that place they met. She sure was a fanatic for their food. He wondered how much she saved up just to get that many food. He forgot how those he ate were called, but he did remember he quite liked them. As much as he wanted to eat them, he didn't want to eat something she loved so much that she kept a whole stock in her fridge. His stomach growled.
It seemed awkward to look for her room to wake her up, but he was seriously hungry. And he really didn't want to make her angry when she showed so much niceness towards him. He had a feeling that waking her up and eating the food was going to make her equally angry no matter what he chose. He decided it would be best to stay hungry and wait for her to wake up.
He went to sit on the couch, looking on the turned on TV. He plopped down, only to hear a high pitched screech. He got up immediately, notcinig Satoko below him flinching in agony.
"Watch where your fat ass is going!" She yelled in a half asleep daze, rubbing her legs where he sat on.
"S-Sorry!" He squeled again.
Even when Shiro tried to make her not angry, he made her angry somehow. He had no luck with this girl.
"It's alright, just don't sit on me ever again." She grumbled, checking the time and sighing.
"It's not like there'll be a chance for this to happen again." He said, knowing this won't happen again.
"That's for me to decide, Whitey." She got up and started going up stairs.
He smiled at that. That means that maybe this might repeat itself. Just maybe. He had hopes for it, since he felt much more at home here than he ever did in that apartment he got.
"Hey, can I eat please!?" He yelled when she got all the way up the stairs, as if she wouldn't be able to answer if she got up stairs.
"Why are you even asking that?" She gave him a poker face.
"Um, I mean, it looked important and stuff, I don't want to eat something important-" Shiro stumbled around.
"It's food. Eat it if you want." She answered simply and continued walking.
His voice stopped her again and she turned around.
"Should I wait for you?" He asked her, like he was scared on getting on her bad side.
"No. Eat if you're hungry." She turned around again, but then he called her again.
This time she turned around, annoyance written on her face.
"Should I take just one? I mean,I wouldn't wanna be-" And with that she slammed the bathroom door shut, not willing to listen to him anymore.
"... Annoying." He finished, turning around realising he was being just that, by being overly nice.
He ate, waiting for her to come back. She got him back his clothes, throwing it to him.
"Do you really like these?" He asked her, seeing she changed her clothes as well.
"Yeah, I love hamburgers. I get my life energy from them." She patted her belly, laying back on her couch.
Shiro changed to his usual clothes, which fitted him much more than this grandpa clothes. Although he felt weird in this types of clothes too. He found the material very weird.
"So, we're visiting Setsuko-San?" Shiro questioned Satoko.
"Yup, I hope Hiroji won't be there." Satoko said, knowing there was a slight chance he'd be there just to tell Ayase how incompetent she was.
Satoko and him got out of the house, heading there by foot. Neither of them had a car, but both of them wanted to go visit her.
"How did the two of you meet?" Shiro asked her, trying to find out more about the black haired girl.
"Well, you know how they isolated kids whose parents were dead or weren't there?" Satoko asked him.
He just nodded, looking like he had no idea what she was talking about. She just sighed and concluded he just looked clueless.
"Well, my parents were on a business trip during the demon outbreak, and they needed to treat me like my parents were dead. And they needed to find me a foster family if they could." Satoko explained, this weird sense of uneasiness and nervousness around her while she was talking.
"And the Setsuko family adopted you?"
"Well, not really. Naoki came to look at the kids that were on offer. He said he wanted an apprentice, and he said he liked me the most... Even though I told him he looked like an unshaven ape." He laughed at the silly memory.
Ah. Shiro sighed to himself. No wonder she had a thing for the leader. He was tall, manly and handsome. And he gave her a home.
"He adopted me. And we had fun together and shit. He thought me how to fight. It was fun." She looked like she had fun remembering it.
He couldn't help but to feel a bit jealous. But he couldn't blame her. He gave her so much which she enjoyed. How could she not have feelings for that man?
And just as they entered the hospital, they saw a familiar face. There stood Naoki.
"So you came? I've been waiting for a while." Naoki stated, a bit annoyed.
"I fell asleep, sorry!" She smiled at him.
He patted her head a bit.
"It's alright. Just don't do that again, I'll regret adopting you." He laughed lightly as she blushed.
Shiro pursed his lips. This was gonna be a very fun day.
