I admired myself in the mirror like I always did to distract myself when everything was just too confusing for me to understand. It had happened a lot lately.
"Hey handsome, I love your hair!" I smiled at my reflection, turning my head ever so slightly to admire myself from all angles. "You look absolutely fantastic today!" Sometimes I expected an answer like "Oh, you look great, too!" It would be a dream come true, but unfortunately, that never happened. Edd saw me responding to myself once and made fun of me for acting weirder than usual. He immediately told Tom about it who just said I was being stupid like always. At least he didn't tease me more for it like Edd did...?
Suddenly I heard a bunch of strange noises downstairs. Things falling to the ground and growling, like some wild animal had broken into our home and was tearing the whole place down.
Maybe I should see if Tim and Todd were alright...? I didn't want to, to be honest, but who knew what they were doing. I hoped they weren't fighting again or breaking any of the vases I collected. When I came down to check on them, I saw them lying on the ground and repeatedly punching themselves in the face and stomach like an absolute maniac would do. They even kicked and bit themselves from how it looked, but their fighting just looked really bizarre. Any other person behaving like this would have ended up in a psychiatric ward by now and for good reason, too.
"Er..." I tried my hardest to find the words to address them and remember their names until I finally just choose the name we had given the fusion. It was a lot easier this way. "Torm!"
They looked up for just a split second, but then they noticed a knife they had knocked down not so far away from them. A terrifying grin flashed onto their face as they grabbed it.
"Wait a second, I am just gonna demolish this piece of shit commie," Tom growled.
"Oh please, I will easily overpower and kill you." Tord fake yawned.
"Stop it!" I screamed but to no avail. They didn't even seem to care at all that I was there.
I didn't know what to do or how I could stop them until I noticed one of Todd's boxes and his remote control right on the table. How convenient! I quickly grabbed both and threw the box on them activating it as fast as I could before anything bad could happen.
"Aaaaah! What the-" they yelled out in surprise. Then they were trapped under a sofa, kicking and screaming as they tried to free themselves. I just casually approached them and took the knife away. No more toddler shenanigans for a while.
They were cursing at me and tried to grab it, but they couldn't control their body enough to manage to crawl out from under the sofa. I had no doubt they would be able to normally, but with no coordination, it was impossible for them to free themselves.
"Give it back to me, you idiot! I need to show Tord what real pain is!"
"Matt, you aren't stupid, right? Just give it to me!"
Two of my friends were in the same body and tried to get the knife from me they had just tried to stab themselves with. That was... awkward. Almost as awkward as when Edd's future self had traveled back in time just to kill his current self. What a weird way to commit die.
"No! You will end up killing yourself if you do that!" I yelled in frustration. What should I do? Edd, why weren't you here? They would have listened to you!
...probably not, but it was nice to dream. And at least I wouldn't have to deal with this then. A lot less problems to deal with meant more me time.
"Tord will be the only one who dies here, you idiot." And they told me I was the stupidly naive one. What a lie.
"Come on Matt. Give it to me. Please?"
"Guys I'm back!" Edd called from the entrance. "Hope you didn't die! Okay, that's kinda a lie..."
"Edd!" I shouted in relief and left the fusion alone in the kitchen. As alone as you could be when you were actually two people stuck in one body.
"Hey, I am still here! Don't leave me with HIM of all people!"
"You could give me a hand! Matt! Matt, come back!"
I just ignored them. It was not my problem anymore. Edd was at the front door with one bag full of cola cans leaning against the wall. He was... grinning from ear to ear for some reason? "What did they do while I was away?" he asked.
"Who?" I questioned.
"Tom and Tord!" he responded, his smile slowly disappearing to be replaced by annoyance. "You know, the fusion?! The ones who cause all the trouble?"
"Oh, yeah. They tried to stab each other with a knife just now," I answered honestly.
"But they're in the same body!" he said. He looked scared and worried just now. I really needed to not casually drop bombs like that when he was already worried enough.
"I know, that's what I told them," I muttered. "But they're stuck under a sofa in the kitchen now, so no worries! They might have almost been crushed, but they're not doing anything stupid."
"Wait, sofa?" he slowly repeated. "What sofa? Tom sold them, remember?"
"Oh, you know, one of those sofas Todd has in the boxes. I trapped them under it before they could do anything," I explained with a proud grin.
Edd laughed. "I guess Tord would be the bottom in any situation." But then he narrowed his eyes, seemingly considering something.
"While I was buying cola I realized that they really need to get along especially after they fused. This whole fusion thing could be a chance. Maybe they can finally stop being enemies and become actual friends," Edd smiled. He thought it would be easy to get them to become friends, I see... Maybe he was right... but I doubted it.
"How do you want to make them friends anyway?" I asked curiously.
"Oh, we just won't help them. They will have to learn to get along and rely on each other for it to work. When they unfuse they will finally be friends. Problem solved. It's that easy.."
"Okay!" I smiled. "That's a good idea! I think." He was right. They would get along after a while if they were forced to work together. It would take time. Probably a few years. Maybe in a few decades. But it would work eventually.
