My Disabilities

Music rings loudly in my unhearing ears

My voice will sing along

Nonexistent lyrics repeat in my head

For they are a repeating mantra

Noise cannot be heard

And my voice will no longer work

While my eyes can see the world

Colors soon fade to black nothingness

My nose can smell all the wonders of the world

But that soon goes deaf

My senses taken away from me

I stumble around blindly

Searching for something I'll never find

But I still persevere

My 'disabilities' do not define me

I define myself and who I am

I know my senses will never return

To me, but still I try
