A soft sweet melody brings me to sleep
Screams rock my body
Shaking and spasming
Thundering of footsteps come near
My ragged breathing quickens
It creeps closer and closer
Our breaths mix
Arms grab my shoulder forcing me to stop
Whispers and lullabies in my ear
My eyes creak open
heart pounding, stomach churning
Shhhhhhh, it's okay I am right here for you
A realization hits
They are back and worse than before
I feel his arms wrap around me
Rocking us back and forth
Sleep is coming once again
I know I'll sleep this time
For my mind knows that I am safe
These terrors may haunt me but with you by my side I can overcome anything
