I looked around and felt completely overjoyed. All these people I never knew were my family, we had finally found them.

"So how did you like your first meal made by grandma?" Daniel asked me attentively, he'd seemed extremely interested in me ever since we'd arrived.

We were all sitting outside, on a big blanket layed on the green grass, with small snacks around us. Mary also agreed to sit with us, but hadn't said a word since we came out here after dinner about an hour ago.

My mother was with her sisters, their husbands, grandma and Claudia, who was too attached to my mother to let go. That girl is just the cutest.

I looked at Daniel with a wide smile and he smiled back.

"It was amazing! Daniel, you're saying you eat like that everyday?!"

"Totally. Breakfast, lunch and dinner."

"Oh my word, that just sounds heavenly..."

"... what? So mommy can't cook?" A person disturbed me as I was speaking and I looked across from me to face Mary, who was eating a salty cracker with a grin on her face.

"No, she can cook. She was taught well." I defended my mother, I wasn't going to let this girl antagonise my mother.

"Taught well enough to abandon her own family?" She raised a brow.

"You don't know what her situation was. If you did, you wouldn't be insulting her like this."

She crossed her legs and grinned, she better not be insulting my disability.

"And you know her situation? And even if so, why should I care about her if I have my own issues?"

"So you don't consider my mother as family yet?"

"No. I don't consider your mother as family. Period. I know what family is, and your mother is not it."

I gripped my jaw and squinted my eyes at her, I was obviously angry, while she just sat there, continuously biting into the crackers with a grin on her face.

"And what is family, since you know so much?" I asked, realising that my tears were wheeling up in my eyes.

"Family... is someone that sticks with their family through thick and thin. Someone who will always be a shoulder to cry on, a person that values relationships with their relatives more than their filthy greed. Family is togetherness. Something your mother doesn't understand."

"Doesn't understand?! You have no idea what we've been through just to find you?!" I yelled out, not realising that my tears were streaming down my face.

"I saw the diamonds. The expensive dress, the expensive shoes and the obviously expensive hair. You guys have money, why didn't you hire 'the best PI in the world' to find us?!" She screamed at me, making me feel so bad.

"Mary, what is your problem with them?!" Noah barked at her, making her roll her eyes.

"Noah, I'm not Demi. I won't be scolded at like a child."
