Hera

I woke up in an unfamiliar room. The walls weren't the same as the ones in my room in the King mansion, these ones were pure white. The furniture was white, with a dark mahogany wooden floor, beautiful grey curtains and a fury white carpet. This room was not one I knew.

"Help! Hello?! Who's here?!" I screamed, wishing that I could stand up and find out for myself.

Moments like these made me wish that I could still walk. I remembered how to do it, but I hadn't really missed it, until now.

While trying to figure out where I was, memories flooded back to me. My father, the beatings, my mother, Mary and Bullet, and then I went blank. Mary had given me a bottle of water, which I drank gratefully, then I didn't remember anything after that.

"Dude, stop screaming. I was just in the bathroom." Mary said while coming in hastily and placing her hand on my forehead. "Damn, for a second there I thought that the sleeping pills were starting to make you lose your mind."

"Stop it." I swatted her hand off of my forehead and crossed my arms over my chest.

Mary huffed out, while rolling her eyes, and sat down next to me on the big bed and got into the sheets on my right. She trailed her arm over my shoulder and smiled at me.

"How did you sleep?" She asked nonchalantly, and her Australian accent lingered in her words fluently.

"How long have I been asleep?" I asked.

"A few hours. It's nine o'clock, by the way." She told me.

"Where is everyone?"

"Blade and Bullet accompanied your mom to the police station, other than them, everyone is here. Boy have you missed a lot, your brother's engaged now. To your father's lover."

"What?" I gasped out in shock, and tried to bring my hand up to my lips, but my elbow locked in painfully and I flinched in pain.

Once I looked at my arm, I noticed a bandage around my elbow and around my torso and bruises and scratches all around my arms and band-aids around my fingers.

"How are you only noticing that now? You survived such appalling injuries and you're only realising it now." Mary asked in disbelief.

"It hurts badly now."

"I can imagine." She shrugged, pulling her arm from my shoulder and leaning back against the headboard.

"What happened?" I asked with tears welling up in my eyes, threatening to fall down.

"Charles was arrested and is being charged with illegal criminal activities. Lots of charges, the poor guy is too bankrupt to even afford a decent lawyer."

"What?"

"Yeah, he blew all of his money on gambling. He's in the police's custody and your mother went there to give her statement."

"She's going to lie."

"Technically, your mother isn't lying. Your mother was here the whole time while your father was being arrested."

"Don't lie to me, I'm not an idiot. She hired a lookalike, she's done it before. That way when she's accused of being at the scene of the crime, she can blatantly deny it."

"Woah... how did you know that? I was specifically told not to tell you anything at all, that you're mom would come and explain everything."

"Well then as you can see... I know enough. There are only a few things that I need you to clarify." I said, wanting to turn, but knowing the pain I'd feel by doing that, I sat still and waited for her response.

"Go ahead."

"And you'll answer honestly?"

"I give you my word." Mary said, placing her head over her heart and patting it twice.

"Good." I paused for a while, being quite sceptical of how true Mary was being to her word.

My mother could've told her to tell me something just so that I wouldn't ask anymore questions, my mother knew how to get into someone's head without you realising it.

But I knew that there was no way for me to be able to trust Mary if I didn't start now. If she wanted me to trust her, she'd have to tell me the truth.

"Did you guys frame my father?"

"Yes." She said nonchalantly, I cringed.

"Did she try to kill him?"

"She came close. Luckily he didn't suffer any permanent damages, but he has one of those weird looking casts around his neck. He looks like a living dead guy, Aunt Claudia doesn't play, hey?"

"When did Zeus fall in love with Hilary?"

"Something about when your mom tried to kill her. I don't really know how... you know, I wasn't there... but I do know that Zeus actually announced to everyone that he was willing to fight both Charles and Claudia if needs be. No offence, but that's just stupid. A stupid move which only a stupid imbecile with a stupid kindergarten child's IQ would do. Absolutely stupid."

"I get it, stupid. Last question. Did my mother really kill Luther?"

Mary kept silent after that, she looked like she was stuck on a crossroad. It's either she kept my trust and told me what she knew truthfully, or she kept my mother's trust and lied to my face. Mary finally spoke up.

"I-I really don't know about that. That's something you have to ask her yourself, but I can't seem to understand how on earth someone's love could kill a person. I mean, love is good, right? Not always, I understand that... just... most of the times it is. It's supposed to be. I guess. I don't know, hearing about Luther... I thought that he was a strong and dangerous man. But learning that love killed him makes me wonder what on earth your mother's love is like."

"It's unique. Not like any love you've ever come across." I said, lost in my own world.

"Isn't that just everyday love?"

"Not with Queen Claudia King. Her love is indescribable and out of this world."

"Oh my goodness, Hera... is your mother an alien?!"

"What?! No!" I said, realising how childish Mary really was. I wasn't expecting her to say this of all things.

"I knew it... no other person on this planet is sane enough to stay behind in a house full of bullets and gunshots and order someone else to flee out. And to top that off, she never misses. How is that humanly possible?"

"My mother has been through some things."

"Like an alien invasion? They abducted her, didn't they. They made her twenty-twenty vision into hundred-hundred. Nothing goes by that lady unnoticed, just starting to get creepy. I'm actually scared of farting around her... even if she is upstairs and I'm outside in the swimming pool in the garden from next-door."

"You're so silly."

"I'm serious, not silly."

"You're seriously silly."

"Think about it. Your mother hates talking. What kind of human being hates talking? Even introverts are talkative, even if to themselves. Your mother... never speaks at all. She just keeps quiet and looks around, like she's continuously looking for something, and I've made it my personal mission to help her find what she's been looking for for so long."

"Seriously?"

"If you want to, you can join. You know her like the back of your hand. There's nothing she doesn't do that you don't find about, even if it's by fate. I noticed that you two are very similar."

"Excuse me? Me and my mother?"

"Yeah... you both have this weird quirk of reading people without them knowing. Except you don't do it as often as she would. I didn't even take her serious when I first met her, until that night."

"What happened that night?"

"Your mother gave me gun."
