Claudia
I stood there, completely amused. This Mary girl, she reminded me so much of Charles.
Just like him, she thought that the world was just a shitty place to live in and all that a person could be able to achieve in life was pain and loneliness.
Just like him, she had an unjustified hatred for everyone. I mean I took one step into the house, and the first thing she did was cuss me out. She hates me, and for an inappropriate or an inexistent reason.
And just like him, she thought that the whole world revolved around her. When she cried, laughed, swore, spoke, sang a bloody war cry, everyone had to stop what they were doing and pay their undisturbed attention to her. Everyone had to freeze their lives and spend their irreversible time just to pacify her seventeen year old ass.
She amused me wholely, and she made me feel a little insulted, but a lot challenged. I honestly enjoy being challenged because conquering someone could make any person's ego grow to the size of a giant. The satisfaction of knowing that you were better than someone was addictive.
"I'm so sorry. Claudia... on her behalf..."
I looked at her weeping mother and frowned. Charlene was in Alex's arms, searching desperately for my voice, wanting to know how I felt.
"It's ok, Charlene, don't cry now. You're not supposed to be crying, I won't let you do that to your beautiful hazel eyes." I complimented her while walking towards her to pull her into a large bear hug.
I pulled away from her and kissed her in her forehead, then felt arms wrapping themselves around us. It was Cynthia. My sisters weren't supposed to be crying.
I looked up from the hug and looked at my mother, she too was crying. It seemed as though everyone was crying, except me. I couldn't find it in me to cry, my mind was just too busy absorbing the situation.
"Guys... everyone better stop crying now or else I'll definitely cry." I warned them, and they all giggled.
I pulled away from the hug and looked at my two sister in front of me.
"Let's go inside, huh? It's cold out and I don't want anyone getting sick."
I smiled warmly at them and they all smiled back.
Everyone went back into the house, and into the living room, where I was previously seated with my sisters by the fireplace. Everyone took a seat, except me, and once they got settled and wiped each others' tears, they looked at me in confusion and I smiled.
"Won't you sit?" My mom asked me, patting the seat next to her, which was right in between her and Cynthia's husband Ayurv.
"No." I said bluntly. They all looked nervously at me and I sighed. "Calm down, I'm not sad. Or angry. Or constipated."
Everyone laughed, finally lifting the mood in the room, but the curiosity was still lurking inside of them. I could see it in their eyes.
"Charlene..." I called to her and she immediately responded, "... where is Mary's room?" I asked my question, then felt the tense atmosphere. Why did people suddenly get so nervous? I just asked to see my niece.
"First room on the right. You can't miss it, the door is painted in pitch black with red marks on it that look like claw marks." She said, and then wanted to say something, but I shushed her and began my way out of the living room. I turned left, went up the stairs and turned right.
She was right with her description. This room's door looked like an entrance to a beast's cage.
I didn't bother knocking, I didn't what to, and I just walked in, finding her listening to her music through her earphones on her bed. She was sitting cross-legged, facing towards me at the door, and then she squinted her eyes.
