"Uh, where are you going?"
Ally nervously turned her head in the direction she heard the voice. It was her Dad, sitting at the table with a cup of coffee in his hand.
"I was going to head down to the coffee shop." She explained. "And then maybe hang out with a friend."
"A friend?" He asked.
"Yeah, just a friend." She answered. "So can I go now?"
"I told you about that boy, Ally." He said, leaning back in his chair.
"What about 'that boy', Dad?" She used air quotes on "that boy".
"He's just doesn't seem like a good kid for you to be around." He replied.
"Dad, he's not like that." She sighed. "If you would've let me introduce you guys, then you'd think differently about him. Now can I please go?"
"Fine." He gave in. "But if you start acting weird because of him, no more Gerard."
"Bye, Dad. Thanks!" She said as she shut that door.
It was a nice morning. No clouds, a warm breeze, and she got to spend the majority of it with Gerard. As she walked, she thought about what her Dad had said before she left.
"If I start acting weird?" She mumbled to herself. "Whatever. I wonder what we're going to do today?"
She walked for what seemed like thirty seconds, and arrived at the coffee shop. As usual, Frank was there, rushing around to make sure the manager was satisfied.
"Sup, Frankie?" Ally asked as she walked by.
"I'm trying not to get fired." He explained, breathing heavily due to all the 'rushing around'. "I almost did, almost. Man, but I don't wanna get fired, again. Then my Mom will be all like, 'oh, Frank! You're such a good for nothing son. I thought I raised you better.' She's a horrible mother." He used a higher voice when saying what he thought his mom would say.
Ally chuckled and left him to his work. She walked in the direction of the counter, but before she got there, someone stood in her way. It was Gerard. He had one drink in each hand.
"Hey, Ally." He said with a smile. "I got your drink already. I hope chocolate milk was what you wanted." He handed it to her.
"Yes, thank you." She said, excepting it. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah. so, you ready to go?" He asked.
She nodded and they left the shop. As they walked by Frank, Ally patted him on the head, and said, "be a good boy."

"Did you make that list?" Gerard asked, looking at her between glances of the road.
"Yes." She replied, pulling a folded up piece of paper out of her pocket. She began to read it out loud,
"Drive a car,
"learn to skate,
"ride a zip line,
"ride in a boat,
"shoot a paintball gun,
"and overcome some of my worst fears." She read, and after finishing, she put it away.
"That's really cool." He said with a smile. "And if you want, we can don something today."
"Really?!" She said, looking over at him.
"Yeah, why not?" He replied, meeting her gaze.
"Which one?" She asked with curiosity in her voice.
