They pulled into the parking lot of the doctor's office. Ally was a bit nervous. Like she said, all he would tell her really was about how much worse she's gotten, and how she only has a little time left to live. She knew that and didn't need a reminder.
They all got out of the car and made their way to the building. Ally and Gerard went to sit down, while her Mom talked to the lady at the counter.
"How're you doing?" Gerard asked, with sympathy in his expression.
"I've been worse." Ally replied. "But I've also been better. I don't see the point of this stupid check up anyways."
"It'll only take a few minutes." He said with a smile. "Besides, isn't that why I came-to help you feel better?"
"I guess so." She said, as her Mom came back over to them.
They sat in silence. Her Mom sat playing with her nails, and Ally and Gerard reading a magazine. Her Mom glanced over at them, hardly moving her head so they wouldn't notice. She saw how close they were sitting. She parted her lips to say something, but was interrupted by a nurse calling for Ally.
Her Mom was the first to stand, while Ally was hesitant to get up. Gerard stood up and held out his hand for her to take. She took it and they started walking, not far behind her Mom.
He put him hand on the small of her back, and led her down the off white hallways, with a grey-blue carpet.

"The Doctor will be here in a moment." The nurse said as she left the room.
Ally sat on a small bed that had noisy, tissue feeling, paper. Her Mom sat to the left of the door, and Gerard to the right, he was closer to Ally that way. Ally looked around the room nervously. Gerard cleared his throat to get her attention, it worked. When she met his hazel eye's gaze, he smiled.
The door opened, and a man who looked around the age of fifty or so came in. He had white hair and a white beard. He wore a blue dress shirt and stripped red tie. "Hello." He said. "How have you been doing, Ally?"
"I've been doing okay." She replied.
"Good, I'm just going to do some normal check up things that you're used to." He said with a smile, grabbing his stethoscope. He checked her heart, and then put it back around his neck.
After looking at her mouth, and ears, he sat down and asked a few questions.
"So, Ally." He said. "How has your anxiety and depression been lately?"
She paused for a moment, and looked at Gerard. Gerard raised his eyebrows and scratched the top of his head. She didn't want to bring up anything about her feeling as bad as the did the other day, in front of her Mom. But the Doctor was waiting.
"It was sort of bad the other day, but I haven't had any problems since really." She explained.
"Okay." The Doctor said. "Well, it's good that you feel better."
After a few more minutes of writing things down, he said that she was done and was free to go. "Thanks you, Doctor Sanders." Her Mom said.
************************************************
"You wanna stick around for dinner, Gerard?" Ally asked when they got back to the house.
"Sure, if that's alright." He agreed. "Sounds great."
