The morning light of the sun brightly shone through the curtains in Ally's room. Standing up to stretch, she yawned and looked over at the clock on her dark brown, wooden night stand.

10:00am.

Her eyes widened, it was Saturday, thought, so it's not like she was in a big hurry for anything. She walked over to her closet to find clothes. She inspected each shelf, searching for her black skinny jeans.

After finding them, she pulled on a yellow V-neck shirt, and laced up her converse.

"Which one?" She asked herself as she rummaged through a bunch of different colors of beanies. And after choosing a grey one, she went over to her mirror to make sure she didn't look like a homeless person.

She ran her fingers down her pale skin and rubbed her chin, wondering what was missing. Snapping her fingers, she went over to her night stand and picked up her lip gloss. She put it on her pale lipsm giving them some color. Once more looking at herself in the mirror, her blue eyes looking back at herself, she sighed as she looked at her hat, and took it off for a moment. She rubbed her head which had no more of her brown hair on it. She stared at the floor as she placed the beanie back on her head.

"Stupid chemo." She mumbled quietly to herself.

She went down the stairs seeing that no one was home but her mom. Her mother was sitting at the kitchen table reading a magazine and drinking her cup of tea.

"Hey, honey." Her mom said with a smile.

"Hey. Um, where's Kenny, Crystal and Dad?" Ally asked as she opened a small bottle of chocolate milk.

"Oh, Dad took the kids to the store." Her mom answered

"Ah." Ally managed to get out before the liquid went down her throat. "So, can I go out for a bit? It's pretty nice outside."

"Well, I guess. Just don't be gone too long m'dear." Her mom agreed. "Just be careful please."

"Thanks mom!" She replied as she went out the door.

She stood on the porch for a minute. Breathing in the fresh summer air. There wasn't a cloud in sight.

She walked around for a while before finding herself near a rather familiar coffee shop. Before entering, she reached into the pockets of her jeans, and found some cash. She went inside, finding that the line wasn't very big, so she got her order pretty quickly.

"Hello." The man at the counter said with an ear to ear smile. "Can I help you?"

"Yes please." Ally responded as she turned her gaze to the menu above their heads. "I think I'll have..." She paused for a moment, carefully making up her mind. "I'll have a hot chocolate." One of her favorite drinks, next to chocolate milk, even during the summertime.

"Coming right up, miss." He said as he went to get the things required to make her drink.

It took only a couple minutes, and he handed her her drink. "Thanks." She said, handing him the cash. "Keep the change."

She sat by a window and drank her hot chocolate to the sound of the radio softly playing the Metallica song, "Nothing Else Matters". She knew the song, Metallica was one of her favorite bands, along with Green day and Queen. She lightly tapped her foot to the beat.

**************

She looked at her phone to check the time. 11:30am. She almost spat her hot chocolate out.

"Crap! I didn't realize I've been sitting here this long." She said to herself. Putting her phone down, she gulped down the rest of her drink threw the cup in a garbage can, and ran out the door, wiping off a bit of chocolate milk that was on her upper lip

She started home, running only a little bit before stopping to call her mom and tell her that she was okay. But upon reaching into the pocket of her jeans, she realized that she had left her phone at the coffee shop. She turned around and was about to start running back to the shop, when she saw someone run out of the shop, waving a cell phone around. It was a boy who didn't seem to be much older than herself.

"Hey! You forgot your phone!"

She ran to get it, but he reached her faster. "Thank you so much." She said as he handed it to her.

"No problem." He replied, flipping some of his black hair out of his face.

He wore mostly black, which went pretty well with him. So did the sunglasses he had on. But one of the first things Ally noticed was his Metallica T-shirt.

"I like Metallica too." She said, gesturing to his shirt.

"Oh, yeah. They're... They're pretty awesome." He replied shyly.

Her phone went off as he finished his sentence, the caller ID came up as 'mom'. She answered with, "hello?"

The boy gave a smile as she continued talking to her mother.

"Ally, Where are you?" Her mom asked.

"Um, I went to a coffee shop, and lost track of time. Sorry, I'm okay by the way." She replied as she gave the boy a weird look, wondering why he was smiling.

"Alright, are you on your way home?"

"Yes, mom. I'll be there in a bit. Bye." She said as she hung up.

"What's so funny?" Ally asked the boy, raising an eyebrow.

"Your ring tone." He answered.

"What about it?"

"'Do you know what's worth fighting for? When It's not worth dying for?'
That's Green Day, Twenty one guns. Green day's a pretty good band." He said, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"Huh." She said slightly tilting her head to one side. "Well, it was nice chatting with you, but I've got to go." She explained.

"Oh, yeah. Worried mom, right?" He asked.

"Yep. Gotta go buh-bye." She said as she walked away and waved.

She stayed on the side of the sidewalk she was on, meanwhile, he crossed the road. After a minute, she noticed that he was going the same way as she was, making all the same turns as her.

"Why did you go all the way over there, when you could have just stayed on this side? You're going down the same streets as me, aren't you?" She yelled to him.

"Because I didn't want to seem like a stalker!" He yelled back, smirking.

She couldn't help but laugh, "Well, now that we know, you can come back on this side!" She laughed.

"Okay." He said making sure it was safe to cross the road.

"Hello, again." He said with his hands in his pocket. "I had to come back over here anyways, I'm on this side of the street." He explained. "Did ya get lonely?" He said looking down at her with a smirk on his face.

"Why would you say that?" She asked giving him a weird look.

"You did kinda call me back over here."

"I was just being..... Logical." She replied.

"Right." He said, sarcastically.

She glared at him, but couldn't take it seriously and the corners of her mouth slightly turned up. They walked in silence for the next few minutes.

"Well, this is my stop." He said gesturing to a blue-grey house to their left.

"Oh, okay, then." She said. "Well, I'm down a ways. Bye."

"Bye." He said unlocking his door. "See ya around then."

She continued down the sidewalk and turned around, to see him waving to her with a smile, as he entered his house. She waved back and returned the smile.
