"I knew it." Wanda whispered down to Dorothy as she gently rocked her. You hadn't notified the rest of the team that she had been born because you wanted it to be a surprise. They had all arrived home, gleeful and shocked by the new presence.
"Knew what?" You asked as you chewed on your popcorn.
"That it would be a girl." She smirked and looked at you through her eye lashes. You rolled your eyes and hit her arm softly.
"Then why did you let me buy cream coloured clothing?" She giggled and shook her head.
"Gender neutral and less persistent on societies standards. Plus, you didn't want to know." She shrugged and continued to coo nonsense to your child.
At that moment, Steve wondered in to the living room and smiled at you. "Having fun?" He asked Wanda as he sat next to you. She nodded and bounced Dorothy even more, earning a small smile. "Hey, Y/N?" You turned your head towards him in response. "Have you seen my black button up shirt? I can't find it anywhere." He looked confused and a little upset.
Of course you knew where it was. On your bed, neatly folded, ready for you to wear it to bed. But you weren't going to tell him that. "No." You shook your head for emphasis as you pretended to think about it.
"Really?" He smiled. You nodded. "So if I were to, say, look in your room, it wouldn't be on your bed?" You shook your head and smiled. "Well there's no harm of me checking later then, right?" You pursed your lips and nodded.
"Sure." It fell silent. You let a few moments pass before you turned to Wanda. "I need to pee, are you okay with her?" Wanda nodded and went back to whatever she was doing before.
You leapt up and tried to leave the room as casually as you could. You couldn't let Steve get that shirt back. It's so comfy.
You opened your door and checked behind you to see if the cost was clear. It was. You journeyed in and snatched the shirt in to your grasp, looking around the room to see where you could hide it, where Steve wouldn't think to look.
"Well, well, well." Steve shoved the door to reveal him. You sighed and turned around slowly. "And to think I trusted you." He acted disappointed and walked towards you. You took the opportunity of the door not being blocked anymore to escape.
You jolted passed him and raced down the hall. A few moments later he was chasing after you, obviously catching up easily. You reached the lift and harshly pressed the buttons to close the door as he approached you. The shirt was still in your tight grasp.
The doors were almost too small to allow Steve in, but he was too fast. Within seconds you were on the floor with Steve on top of you, wrestling to get the upper hand.
The floor jolted to signify it was moving, but all you could focus on was how Steve was now straddling your waist.
"Give it back." He held his hand out for the shirt but you only cuddled it closer to your chest. He wiggled his hand and gave you a mocking stern look. You smiled and high fived the outstretched hand. "Right." You squealed as your arms were pinned above you head with one hand and your body was being tickled by the other.
"Steve! No!" You bellowed as giggles escaped your lips.
"Give it back." He repeated, not stopping his hand work. You shook your head the best he could and tickled harder making you laugh more.
"Please! Stop!" He laughed along with you and noticed your grip loosen on the shirt. He was about to grab it when the elevator door pinged open to reveal Tony and Bruce. Everything stopped as everyone eyed each other.
"I thought I made the 'no sex in elevators' rule clear?" Tony smirked before you scrambled to you feet.
"We weren't-I wasn't-it's not-" he held his hand up and shut the two of you up.
"Just get out so me and Bruce can go to the lab." You nodded and followed Steve, both your cheeks turning a very dark red.
