Like I said, mornings could make or break a day. And now, yours was most definitely broken.

Sounds from every direction filled your ears as your eyes scanned the area sharply. Bullets flew past you but you knew you were safe in the position you were in.
It seemed as though there were three weak spots, perfect for infiltrating the building and blowing it to pieces. You pressed your finger to your intercom and squinted your eyes. "West wing is mostly clear. Everyone's moving towards the North. Tread carefully, people." You muttered, loud enough so the team could hear you.
Tony thanked you before Steve's voice crept up in your ear. "Can you pick up why they're going to the North wing? Something seems off." You huffed and placed your hand on the ground to steady yourself before letting your ear touch it. You closed your eyes and tried to focus on the vibrations of everything around you, trying to pick up any indication as to why they were moving.
With a sigh, you got back up. "I'm too far away to pick up anything." You answered in defeat.
You heard a chuckle in your ear piece. "I thought you were meant to have heightened senses." Clint smirked, waiting for your reply as he balanced in a tree somewhere, bow and arrow at the ready.
You scoffed. "Doesn't mean I can hear, see, smell, taste and feel everything, Barton. Why don't you stop questioning my abilities and do your job?" You smiled, still scanning the area around you.
"Yes ma'am." He quipped back. The signal was given and everyone journeyed closer to the building. The plan was to get in, plant the bomb, and get out. It seemed simple and easy, but you still couldn't shake that uneasy feeling.
Yes, you had the power of using your senses to extents no other human could, but it was almost as though you had a sixth one as well. Every now and then, you'd get a feeling or a tingle to signal something good or bad would happen...You've never been wrong.
The feeling remained as you took on hydra agent after hydra agent down the long, dark corridors. It seemed never ending until you came face to face with Bucky.
You sighed in relief and skipped up to him. "How's it going, soldier?" You grinned, Bucky returning the expression.
"I've had better days." Bucky chuckled and showed you the bomb in his metal hand. "Wanna give me a hand?" You nodded and followed him in to the room you were meant to plant it in.
Unbeknownst to you, havoc was being unleashed outside. The team was slowly becoming surrounded as new batches were flying in. The odds weren't in their favour. "Buck. It's time to blow this place to pieces." Steve grunted as he kicked away a hydra precipitant.
You and Bucky looked at each other with worry. You had only just logged in to the system. Bucky unsurely raised his hand to the intercom and kept his eyes on you. "We need some more time, Steve." He anxiously waited for a reply.
Finally: "There is no more time! We're getting swamped here and Clint's already down with a bullet wound. AGAIN!" Tony joined in, panic evident in his tone. "If you waste anymore time, there won't be any avengers left." Bucky swallowed hard and looked down at the device.
You could tell he was thinking of something, but you didn't know what. It seemed to upset him though. "(Y/N), you need to go." You blinked a few times.
"Not before we plant the bomb." You protested, desperate to finish the mission.
"There's no we." He looked at you through his lashes and it hit you.
"No." You shook your head, the uneasy feeling growing as the seconds flew by. He opened his mouth to talk. "We're not discussing this. Activate that bomb so we can leave. Together." You demanded, but Bucky just shook his head.
"You heard him. They're getting beaten out there. So you need to go." He started to type in to the system, the ready signal coming up on to the screen.
In a flash he placed his lips on yours in the most passionate kiss he could muster. "I love you so much." He whispered before plucking you off of the ground. You tried to wriggle free  but he was too strong.
The door that lead directly outside flew open and you were planted outside of it. He closed the door and looked at you through the window. "Leave, (Y/N)!" You shook your head as tears flooded your cheeks.
"Not without you!" You banged on the door to try and get it open but it stayed shut.
Bucky's features turned to that of pain and regret. "Tell Steve I'm sorry." You whimpered as he spoke. Buck turned around and activated the bomb, the seconds beeping away to signal the passing seconds.
"I love you." You sniffled, placing your hand on the door.
His reflected yours and he gave you a sad smile. "I love you too, doll. So much." You couldn't move though. You could hear the last few seconds come up, but you couldn't leave him. He was the love of your life. This man was going to marry you someday, maybe even father your children.
But it all seemed helpless as your feet froze. "(Y/N), What are you doing?" Steve rounded the corner and Bucky hid from view so he couldn't be seen. "(Y/N)! This place is going to blo-" you both flew miles away from the crumbling and burning building.
Your back hit a tree and that's when everything turned black.

You had woken up in a hospital bed and everything hurt. The news that your burnt skin was saved by Tony's friend was a relief, but the news that followed triggered memories you never thought you'd possess.
Now, as you cried in the dull room, you really wish you had taken action on that uneasy feeling, and maybe, just maybe, Bucky would still be here.
