CHAPTER 13: YOU'VE GOT A DATE?!

I watched as Kaylee Bennet leant against the door her ebony eyes narrowed slightly. Panicking a little, I wondered how long she’d been stood there. Long enough to see me twirling around in a grand’s worth of designer dress that's for sure. My panic levels were increasing by the second, what if she recognised me? She’d taunted and teased me for over two years so why should I be exempt from it now?

Its fine Bex, don't panic, just inhale... exhale...

By now Stacie and Niki had seen her as well. At first I’d expected them to just ignore each other. But Kaylee’s world was way different to theirs. Whilst she might have been the beautiful prom queen at her public school, she was nothing compared to the wealth and exquisite style of private school girls like Stacie. Everything about her exuded money and wealth. From the DKNY skinny jeans to the Mulberry purse she swung from one arm. Compared to Stacie, Kaylee just looked drab. It was obvious her clothes had been fairly cheap, and whilst they accentuated her figure, she herself just looked cheap. If I didn’t hate her so much I would have felt sorry for her.

I watched as her eyes swung over me and she tutted slightly.

‘Sorry can we help you?’ Niki’s voice dripped with sarcasm, one hand on her hip, as she watched the other girl.

But Kaylee was still watching me, ‘do I know you from somewhere?’ she drawled, looking me up and down.

I was just about to answer with a panicked: no, not at all, you must have me mistaken! When Stacie came to my rescue.

‘Um no offence hun,’ she tittered with a patronizing smile, ‘but I highly doubt my friend knows somebody like you.’

The ice cold glare in Kaylee’s eyes is one I know all too well. ‘What do you mean by that?’ she challenges.

Smirking, Stacie flicks her car keys from one hand to the other. ‘We’re from Miriam High, you know, the private school...’

‘So? I definitely know your little friend from somewhere so don’t get up your own ass.’

‘Trust me,’ I said scathingly, ‘I don't tend to associate myself with girls like you.’

Ooh burn!

After all the times she’d bitched about me, taunted me, shouted abuse at me down the halls, for once I felt like showing her, her own medicine. Call me a bitch whatever.

For a second a flash of hurt passed over her eyes and I felt awful.
