CHAPTER 19: EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT IT

When I woke up in the morning, I lay with my eyes tight shut wondering if I had imagined everything. But I soon realised that I didn’t have a creative enough brain to dream up the woozy, buzzing feeling I’d gotten from lying next to Mark.

So, inhaling slightly, I opened my eyes a crack and turned to my right. Sure enough Marc’s night blue eyes looked back at me, a slight smile on his face.

‘Hey.’ He mumbled quietly, grinning a little more when he noticed I was awake.

‘Hey yourself.’ I said. Oh god, please don't let me have morning breath, that would just be the worst!

‘Nice hair babe, the hay bale look really suits you.’

Oh crap.

Why couldn’t my hair just behave for once in its life?

I just rolled my eyes at him and sat up. As soon as I attempted to run my fingers through my hair in an attractive “good morning gesture” I realised this was a hopeless task as they just got stuck.  Flushing slightly, I swung my legs off the mattress and turned to look at the rest of the room for the first time.

Oh Jesus. Why were people awake and staring at me?

Then it dawned on me that it probably looked as though Marc and I had done more than just lay next to each other. Oh Bex, glam girl mode on!

Ignoring the curious stares and intrigued whispers I grabbed my wash bag and clean clothes and stalked into the bathroom. Upon locking the door, I quickly ran a brush through my hair and applied some BB cream and mascara. A little lipgloss and a change of clothes later I felt ready to leave.

As soon as I went back in the room people were looking at me again. I mean really? If Marc and I had had sex, which we obviously hadn’t then surely that was the sort of thing the populars were used to?

Right?

Apparently not.

It really didn’t make matters any better when Marc finally realised what all the stares were for. He found it hilarious to follow me around and openly flirt with me in front of the others. Now, I'm all being flirted with by a very attractive male but this was really taking things too far.

‘Bex hun, can I talk to you?’ its Stacie, she’s smiling at me from the doorway.
