Elaine's POV

I woke up in the same room. I was still lying on the bed and it seems that nothing changed. I sat while my head was dizzy. I then saw the folder that Jenny's dad has been reading above the cabinet. I took it and opened it. There was a picture of me sleeping. I moved on to the new page and there was the personal info.

"Name: Elaine
Patient No.: 8
Profile: Peculiar/Mermaid

                 Mind-Reading
                 Telekinesis
                 Memory-Erasing
Age: 18

I then closed the folder and placed it back on the cabinet. I bit my nails and thought about the folder. I don't think I can do Telekinesis since I still have difficulties using them. It's actually because I wasn't born with it. I only developed it a little when I was fifteen years old.

My visions blurred when I concentrated on the folder. But I was interrupted when the door burst out open. Jenny's dad came angrily and kept throwing things that he sees. I flinched and he stared at me.

"This is all your fault." He whispered.

He gripped my hair and threw me off the bed. He then drag me to a room. I kept trying to hit him but I kept missing. He took me to a room where there were cages like prison. There was a girl and boy but I couldn't recognize them. Then Jenny's dad stopped dragging me and unlocked a cage. He threw me in and locked it again.

My visions started to blur and I felt that I was fainting. I looked at my left to see that I was next to a cage where there was a girl. And I blacked out.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

The boy next to my cage sighed and looked at me.

"These cages are magical. Only peculiar people can get in here." He responded.

"W-why can't normal people get in these cages?" I asked.

He sighed once again.

"When a normal person tries to get in the cage, they'll feel something like a transparent wall." He explained.

I looked away from him and rested my back on the wall. I let out a sigh until the door opened. My dad was angry and was dragging a girl by her hair. I realized that it was Elaine. I reached for the bars on my cage and only watched Elaine as he dragged her.

"Elaine." I called out.

But she couldn't hear me so I just waited. My dad unlocked the cage right next to mine and threw Elaine in it. She was weak that she lay in there  and didn't even stood. That's when I realized that she fainted all along.

"Elaine?" I called out.

Still no response.

"Who is she?" The boy asked.

"She's Elaine, my friend." I responded.

He nodded and stared at her.

"Seems like she died." He said.

I glared at him which made him look away. I know she didn't die. She must've fainted somehow.

"I forgot to ask you." He said.

"What's your name?" He asked.

"Jenny. Jenny Corman." I introduced.

He smiled and nodded.

"What about you?" I asked.

"Jamie." He introduced.

He got close to the bars that connected to each others cage and extended his arm which came in my cage. I took his hand and shook it. He took it back and sat again in the middle of the cage. I stared at Elaine who was lying on the floor of the cage.

I also realized that her feet was getting pale.

And her skin started to peel.
