I Am Different

Chapter 5

Elaine's POV

I stood there as a woman saw me, I just remembered that I was naked, I kindly smiled and asked her.

"Do you have clothes?"

"Uhh... yeah, I'll get it." She responded,

She left and I waited, I hoped no boys came, then finally she came back, she held a black T-shirt and jeans, I was happy because black was my favorite color, and my hair was black with a hi-lite of white, I wore it and finally stopped hiding, she became curious and asked.

"What are you doing here naked?"

I thought about my answer first, I shouldn't say that I was a mermaid so I just stayed silent.

"Okay, you don't have to answer that." She said,

She extended her right arm on me.

"I'm Jenny." She introduced,

I smiled and shook her hand.

"Elaine."

"So, are you with someone?" She asked,

"No."

"Then, let's hang out."

She led me to where she stayed, she gave me a drink, it's been so long when I last drank a softdrink, I felt happy to finally taste it again, It was now empty and I threw it in the garbage, she took her bag and we left the beach, we went in her car and she drove, we stopped in a market, we went in and bought snacks, we walked out of the market as she payed, then I saw a sign that said,

"Burgos Town, a place where anything can happen. And I also meant the strange ones."

"What does that even mean?" I asked,

"Burgos Town is a little bit strange, anything happens here, like one time, this whole town almost turned into a reddish thing, more like of a sand." Jenny responded,

"And?"

"And one of the Detectives got kidnapped also."

"How did the town turn into a reddish sand?"

"It was actually because of time travelers they say, Jane Lim, who was known as a serial killer was innocent after all, and she was abducted again and as she escapes, that's when it started to become red sand."

"Really? Where is it?"

"At her old house, wanna see?"

"Okay."

Me and Jenny went to the car and drove to where she said it was, we arrived and found a house surrounded by tape, one of the detectives came to us, and Jenny rolled the window at her side.

"Jenny, you shouldn't be here." The man said,

"Sorry, but what happened here?" Jenny asked,

"This house still needs investigation after what happened."

"You're Marco Vianne, right?"

"Yeah, why's that?"

"Nothing."

Jenny drived away, I sat next to her so I kept looking at her drive, I do remember when I was twelve and I drove already, Jenny stopped in a hotel and she checked in, I knew we were the same age when I saw her right her age, we are eighteen, she checked in a hotel, we went in our room and I checked everything, there was a bathroom, bedroom and kitchen, I sat in the couch as Jenny did.

"Let's stay here, for a week." Jenny said,

"You have lots of money." I said,

"My father gives us lots of money, he would sometimes give us a hundred thousand, but mostly fifty thousand."

"Wow, that's a lot."

"He gave it to us because he thinks that Me and my brother always lived without him, so he gave us money so we could buy what we need."

"Why aren't you going to your real home anyway?"

"I had a fight with my brother, and I can't talk to him right now, I can't even stay at the house, because I know he's throwing another party."

"Must be miserable right? I always hate parties that much, there would be drunk people, and trying to you know..."

"Oh yeah, that."

"Hey, let's cook these two spicy ramen."

"Okay."

I went to the kitchen and filled the pan with water, I boiled it first and I started to pour in the noodles at the pan, after it was cooked already, I pour in the little packs, which is supposed to be poured in the noodles, I called Jenny from the living room, I took half of the noodles while Jenny had the other half, we started eating and I finally became full.

Later, Jenny and I watched the television, I totally forgot what I was supposed to do, then it came back on my mind.

"Jenny." I called,

"Yeah?" She asked,

"Can I borrow your car?"

"Umm... where are you going?"

"I'm looking for a place, don't know where actually but I have to find that place."

"Really? Would you want me to come with you? Or not?"

"No, it's olay, I'll drive myself, Can I?"

"Okay, just don't try to break it okay?"

I nodded and she gave me her car keys, I left the hotel and went to Jenny's car, I started driving and looked for this place, I knew this wasn't gonna be easy, I arrived at a Police Station infront of Saffar Cafe, I went in the station and looked around to find lots of Police, this was a bad idea, if they know me I could get killed, I siddenly bumped into a man, he was like my age.

"Sorry, I didn't saw you there." I said,

"Well, watch where you're going next." The man said angrily,

He left and went to his car, I turned around to find the Detective before.

"Didn't I've seen you somewhere?" He said,

I became scared as I thought that he might know me, then he smiled and spoke.

"Ah, you're the girl with Jenny earlier, right?" 

"Uhh... yeah." I responded,

His smile vanished and told me to stay in my spot first, I didn't know why but I felt uneasy, I thought that he might call the scientist over, saying that he found me, I tried to run away but I turned around to find him looking directly at me.
