Song of the Chapter: What Now by Rihanna
Recap (Jasmine’s POV):
“We found the prosecutors guilty for robbery. The sentence is two years without parole.”
I think I'm going to throw up.
“Jaz?”
I stared at the screen without hearing anything.
I took my keys and just left.
“Jasmine!”
Paulene's POV
I knew that Jasmine was pissed off. I knew that she still cared about him.
She was faking her emotions the entire time I was with her. But why?
I'm her best friend.
I started to think attentively to where she could be. Who knows? By the looks of it, she can running through some traffic lights to get her anger out.
Wait… anger out.
The boxing ring.
Jasmine’s POV
“Block! Swerve!” My boxing coach yelled at me.
There was only one place that I had to get my anger out.
The boxing ring.
Dad used to take me when I was a little kid to defend myself with other people. I stopped going a few years ago, but I found out about Brandon.
I saw his place two years ago and I wanted to check it out. I couldn't remember what was jab and how to kick properly. When I got practice out of it, the mixed martial arts of me got out and I went all out.
Brandon is only a couple of years older than me and he calms me down with my anger issues.
“Remember to block!” He yelled at me again. I was having a mini fight with a fellow student of his and I didn't want to block.
I wanted to punch and kick.
I was here for a couple of hours after the announcement on TV and I couldn't look at it anymore.
It was seriously heartbreaking.
“Chris, take a break,” Brandon told his student. “I want to talk to Jasmine.” Chris nodded his head and leaped out the ring.
“Alright, I know there's something wrong. Should I be concerned?”
“Everything's fine, Brandon,” I lied. “I wanted to be here.”
“You came in with your work clothes and I had to provide you with some clothing. Is it about that guy that you told me about a few months back? What did he do and should I hurt him?”
“Didn't you see the news?” I questioned. “He got sentenced.”
“Oh damn. Jaz, I'm sorry.”
“No, it's my fault. It's my fault that I used all of my energy on that fucking dickhead.”
I started shaking and my hands turned into fists. “I'm so dumb!”
I saw the punching bag in another room and I ran to it. I punched it with my life that depended on it.
Punch after punch was every time that Francisco played with my heart.
Every punch that made me broken.
Then, I started to break out in tears.
Everything that happened, I don't know why I'm crying but it hurts. It hurts that someone you really likes just leave without saying goodbye.I heard someone sighed and went on the floor next to me. I knew it was Paulene.
“How did you know that I was here?”
“Because you have a anger problem and it was the only place to actually release your anger.”
“Why do boys like to play with people's emotions?” I questioned.
“Why do they like to be assholes for no reason?”
“Jasmine, I don't know. Not all of them are like that.”
“But I find all of them. It's so hard to find at least an average one.”
“Did you find someone that was like that?”
“Almost average. Remember I told you about my ex Alex? He was a sweetheart. He was so nice, but we had to break up because of his dad had to move. I thought that I was not going to find anyone else. Francisco came in the picture. He was unique and in that French class, I knew that we were just alike. But, I wish I haven't met him. I wouldn't be feeling this way.”
“You know I'm here, right?”
“Of course, but having a guy to care is sort of touching.” I wiped my tears. “I think it's time.”
“Are you ready?”
“I'm ready to get Francisco out of my life. He caused too much and I hope he has fun in jail. He deserved it.”
I'm done with him entirely. I'm not focused like I used to and without him in my life, I feel relaxed.
I went through my phone and deleted all of the pictures with me and him.
Screw Francisco López.
