Song of the Chapter: Dark Horse by Katy Perry ft. Juicy J
Recap (Francisco's POV):
“Shut the fuck up,” she cursed. “Why did you messaged me early in the morning?”
Shit.
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
She takes out her phone and showed me the screenshot. Great.
She clears her throat. “Okay. What were you going to say before you'd logged out?”
The whole table was at me, including Jasmine because she wanted to know so bad.
I'm screwed.
Francisco's POV
"What were you going to say?"
“I forgot to tell you that yesterday, the nurse asked me if I knew you and wanted to check if you had the eye exam. I remembered you'd already did so you don't need to worry about it.”
“Oh,” she said. “Well, thank you, Francisco. I really appreciate it.” She walks away, going back to her seat.
“You had to lie to her,” Adam said.
“It wasn't a lie,” I said.
“No, it was a big ass lie,” Mindy replied. “What did you want to tell her anyway?”
“To say that he extremely loves her,” Noah interrupted.
I rolled my eyes. “I don't love her.”
“How many years have you liked her?” Adam asked. “About to be two years, right?”
“Yeah, but--”
“Cisco, you get so afraid when she comes your way and when you two actually talk, you guys argue and annoy the shit out of each other,” Adam explained. “Wait, remember that bet that you--”
“We're not going to talk about this,” I interrupted. “Can we talk about something different?”
Jasmine’s POV
“I think he's lying,” my friend Isaac said when I'd explained what happened. “Come on, the nurse was looking for you?”
“It does sound fishy,” Paulene added. “But hey, at least you two didn't argue.”
Francisco does lie a lot but would he lie about the nurse thing to hide something? He's usually blunt.
“Really?” Isaac questioned. “The heavens have heard our prayers!”
I rolled my eyes. “Isaac, don't be yourself right now.”
“Jaz, you're not making sense,” Paulene admitted. “But, that shit is normal.”
“Look, maybe he's not lying,” I suggested. Why am I lying?
“You never know,” Paulene said.
“Never know what?” Isaac and I asked in unison.
She gave both of us a bright smile. “Oh nothing.”
A week later… (Thursday)
Practice makes perfect, right? If it involves me going up and down an auditorium repeatedly, count me out.
Up and Out Day is tomorrow and the class sponsor wanted the juniors and seniors to walk appropriately and not like we have something on our asses.
The only thing I like about this event is that we can leave early. That's only like ten am.“Pst!” I exclaimed. “Paul!”
“Fuck, I'm right here,” she snapped.
“I thought you're going to hear what the lady saying. But anyway, we should go out to eat. Ooh, and a movie.”
“Well, I do have some cash at home,” she thought. “Where are we going to eat?”
“Probably at a Chinese buffet,” I answered.
“Hibachi?”
I smiled. “Hibachi. And we could see Fast and Furious 7.”
“Damn, how I would like to see Vin Diesel again,” she commented.
“Alright, I'll go.”
“Cool.” I was staring through the student body, minding my own business. Or actually looking at my crush.
“Jaz, I know you're looking for Francisco.”
“Psh, me? Looking for that cheap bullshitter? Why would I?”
“Admit it. You really like him.”
I sighed and went to her ear. “I really like Francisco.”
“See! Wasn't that so hard?”
I hit her in the shoulder and sat back. Well, I'd admitted it to Paulene. But I can't admit it to myself.
