Song of the Chapter: Secrets by OneRepublic
Recap (Jasmine's POV):
“You didn't show that when you was listening to the soccer team’s conversation,” Alex spat. “You knew that Francisco already liked her from high school and you didn't say anything.”
He's bluffing. Paulene wouldn't do that.
“You just want to break our friendship apart!” I exclaimed. “Paul, tell him that you had no idea.”
Silence.
“Oh no,” Adam added.
“Paul?” I questioned.
“You're messed up,” Paulene said to Alex. “But I'm going to keep it out of the open. Yes, I knew in our sophomore year of high school, Francisco did like you and I didn't want you to know.”
Jasmine's POV
All this time, Paulene knew that Francisco had feelings for me since high school and she didn't tell me.
I stayed silent, while Adam tried to lighten up the mood.
“So, are we going to have a big sleepover now?” He questioned. “I've never went to one before.”
“Jaz, please talk to me,” Paulene told me. “I hate the silence from you.”
“Why?” I questioned with a bitter tone.
“Because I was jealous that you were going to leave me with Francisco,” she answered. “Since you told me that you had a crush on him, I overheard from tennis practice that the soccer team was playing dares. Everyone from the tennis team left, including you, and I was going home until I overheard what was going on.”
“You saw what I did?” Adam asked.
“You ate a handful of grass,” Paulene answered. “And Noah had to ask a girl out by the end of the day.”
Adam grinned. “Good times.”
“Continue the story,” Alex ordered.
Paulene looked at Alex. “Don't tell me what to do.” Alex rolled his eyes. “Anyway, it was Francisco’s turn to do something. The entire team knew that he had a major crush on you, so the dare was to scream, “I love you, Jasmine” three times.”
“I was laughing my ass off,” Adam said. “The guys recorded his dare and was almost posted on Facebook, until Francisco found out. It's nowhere to be found now.”
“I knew if I told you, you'll freak out and ask him out yourself,” Paulene continued. “It was my benefit to not tell you, and I felt horrible for not telling you. I'm sorry.”
It was selfish of what she did, but I would do the same thing if a guy liked her.
“You're forgiven,” I said. I look at Alex and he pulled a chair next to me. “And you thought that we would break our friendship because of that.”
“I wanted the truth to come out,” Alex said.
I heard a groan from Francisco and he started to move. Okay, he's alive.
He opened his eyes and I saw hatred. “You're going to be dead.”
“So, you're saying to me that I'm going to die, but you're in a electric chair,” Alex mocked. “No one isn't going to find you. Not even Jasmine and Paulene since they're from the CIA.”
