Paulene's POV

“Do you want cheese on your spaghetti?”

For four months, I've been with the one person I really like.

Pete.

Since my last relationship that ended in high school, I didn't want to trust anyone that came in my way. That relationship ended badly.

I met Pete through a friend. I didn't want nothing to do with him, until he started talking about gaming. We had a lot in common, so he asked me out. It became four months.

He doesn't have a lot of free time, since he's working at a car dealership and being on YouTube.

I see him making spaghetti and meatballs with cheese and I was working on a project for an art class.

“Sure,” I told him. He makes me happy and I finally be comfortable with someone that I really like. “Hey, what do you think of this?” He walked over to me and saw my drawing of New York.

It looked horrible.

“It looks fine,” he told me.

I looked at him. “Don't lie to me. I can only draw non-human things.”

“A for effort?”

I rolled my eyes. “F for failure.”

“Aw, now babe, don't think like that. You tried.” He gave me a peck on the lips and then started to finish cooking his food.

The door opened with Jasmine in a white shirt and military pants. “Is it safe to come in?”

“Yep,” Pete answered.

She had an angry look. “Ugh, the devil's back.”

“Missed you too, Jasmine,” he replied.

Jasmine doesn't like him that much. For months, she believes that he's a bad guy to date. I didn't listen to her, of course.

“Pete made spaghetti,” I told her. “You want some?”

“I guess, but I'm going to take a nap,” she said.

I know that she practically hates him, but besides that he's no good for me, why? Every time I told her that I wanted her and Pete to get along, she ignores the topic and switches to a new one.

“I hope she's okay,” Pete told me. He set a plate of spaghetti for me and him. “I don't know why she hates me so much.”

“Me too.”

***
A couple of hours later, Pete left to go to work and Jasmine had a study group on campus.

I was going to walk to my bedroom, but I saw one of Jasmine’s bracelets on the ground. I walked in and put the bracelets on her jewelry case.
