Song of the Chapter: Hard Knock Life by Jay Z
Recap (Adam’s POV):
I was on a gurney and Paulene was having intensive treatment care on another ambulance. They took us away and I started to doze off.
One of the paramedics put on a mask for me to sleep.
I need Francisco to fight this fight for me. But can he?
Francisco’s POV
My life is like a roller-coaster.
When you get on the ride, the tracks are a straight line, but it's bumpy when it starts to accelerate.
I started out messed up when I was young. My parents used to fight and my brother left when he was seventeen.
Dad had this ridiculous anger and Mom was always the one who gets hurt. They were yelling and screaming about everything.
Now, Dad’s in jail. Mom got deported back to Mexico. My brother is somewhere in this earth; probably dead.
I will be too if I don't kill Alex.
When I met him at the mall with Jasmine, I had this odd feeling about him. He doesn't seem right to me.
When he admitted that he liked Jasmine too to me, I knew it was a red flag. I didn't want to know what he can actually do.
But he did so much.
He tried to break all of us up so that we would be against each other. He wanted to kill us, except for Jasmine, but he already have. He killed her pride, dignity, strength, and happiness.
I look at her on the floor, seeing her soft breathing. She looked so pained and defeated.
“Why does this have to happen to you?” I whispered to her. I know she couldn't hear me, but why does she have to be the one that's on the floor? That could be Alex there.
“Wake up,” I said to her. “Wake up.”
Adam was going to pass out at any given moment, Paulene looked like she was dead, and Jasmine could be poisoned to death from the shot. I blame one person.
Alex.
He doesn't deserve to be in this world anymore.
I heard him walking back downstairs to the basement. “I'm surprised you didn't scream for help. You couldn't anyway because of the soundproof walls I'd built.”
“Are you actually stalling, Martinez?” I asked. He would be the person that would kill me before he starts talking. Why did he want to beat me to death instead of electrocution?
“Nope, just stating the facts,” he answered. He had this remote in his hand and when he pressed a button, the handcuffs from my hands and feet were gone. “Now, come on and fight me.”
I tried to get up but I fell to the ground just like how Adam did.
“I can't believe I'd agreed to this,” he commented. “Weak bastard.”
Do it for the love of your life.
I ram at him pushing him to the wall and started to punch his face repeatedly. He was actually stronger than me, just because I was weaker in this moment.
I need to find his weakness.
He kicked me in the stomach and I fell down. I saw his fist and I immediately moved. He actually punched the ground.
