The man on the tv held a notecard. He was announcing the results of a contest that people all around the world had entered in. "Eight students are going to get free places in the Deluxe Academy in Digitala City. You all entered, but only these eight will win!" Though our heroes were oblivious to it currently, Digitala City wasn't real. It meant Digital World. However, this had to stay a secret. If the public knew, it would be a disaster. "And to all of you watching, the new students are-drumroll please-," the man continued. "Scarlett Alice Marylyn, Delaney Ashlyn Colina, Genevieve Stella Gennai, Katie Grace Pinkloff , Charlie Lily Sino, Sapphire Emerald Alini, Akira Riley Brandon, and Thaddea Zephyr Trilshi. If you heard your name, pack your bags! Tomorrow, all of you will be sent off to Digitala City's Deluxe Academy!" All eight of our heroes-Sam, Delaney, Genevieve, Kyoi, Ellie, Saphira, Kira, and Zephyr-all watched. They all had entered with hopes of making it. Sam bolted to her room and pulled a rope over her shoulder while packing a suitcase. Delaney got together the few belongings that she owned from being forgotten. Genevieve attempted to ignore her pressuring mother. Kyoi wondered about this 'Deluxe Academy.' Ellie got all of her electronics together and wondered how life would change. Saphira stood around rolling her eyes. Kira knew she couldn't go because of her life-threatening secret. Zephyr was told she couldn't go much to her annoyance. Little did they know that this was just the beginning of their time being a DigiDestined.....
DELANEY'S POV
Digitala City? That's new. When I heard my name, my heart beat faster. All of my siblings had entered. I hadn't. How did I win? They wouldn't be happy to hear this. But then again, they wouldn't ever ask me if I won, expecting me to be overlooked. I didn't have much. My siblings had so much and I had so little. They got all the attention. I was the forgotten little kid in the corner. I hoped deep inside that at the Deluxe Academy I could start again.
SAM'S POV
My heart leaped. I pulled my stuff together really quickly. I said good bye to my dad the next day and hopped on the bus. Looked like a trolley car. I saw a kid named Delaney. We talked. The driver said that the Deluxe Academy was a cover up. This place was for DigiDestined, people destined to save both the real world and digital world. He also said that all of the other kids that were called were DigiDestined too. I wondered what they would be like.
GENEVIEVE'S POV
The driver and I sat in silence. Lucky that the two kids in the car next to me lived near each other and not fancy house central. Just because my family was rich didn't mean I wanted to be treated differently that everybody else. At the school, I wanted people to treat me like them, and not some snotty rich kid that thinks they're better than everyone else. I wanted a fresh start, not to live in my family's money's shadow for the rest of my life.
KYOI'S POV
I would miss my dad. Ever since my mom left, we had gotten pretty close. Sometimes I still wonder what happened with my mom and two little brothers. They were twins, and I didn't understand why mom took them and left dad and I in the dust. I thought about this as I looked out the trolley car's window. I looked into the eyes of a girl driving the opposite direction riding in a trolley car like the one I rode in. I wondered where she was going.
ELLIE'S POV
I thought about this school. Would there be someone there who understood me? Would I make many friends? I saw a blue haired girl who was lost in thought as well. I later learned her name was Kyoi, a DigiDestined like me. As I drove away, I wondered about where she was going. She was in a trolley car identical to the one I was in. Was it possible I was going the wrong direction? The driver seemed to know what he was doing. But later, I really wished he had gotten a map.
SAPHIRA'S POV
Ha! As if I was going to leave my home. When someone came to my door, I lied and said it wasn't me. I had known this place forever. I wasn't going to leave it to go to some stupid school! I thought that this school seemed strange, so I googled it. There was no Deluxe Academy! I rolled my eyes. This must have been some sort of prank. Stupid prank. I would later decide to take the chance, but instead of finding what I had hoped, I would find darkness.
KIRA'S POV
I saw a picture of the Deluxe Academy. A familiar face was on the screen. Izzy! I hadn't seen him in four years. It would be nice to see him again. I knew that this would take me from home. Though that was tempting, I couldn't go back to the other world. I had the ability to change it all from regular to destroyed. I couldn't take that chance. Or else, I may never see Izzy or any of my best friends again.
ZEPHYR'S POV
"Please?" I begged. My mom shook her head. I had asked at least ten times now, and no luck! This was so stupid! One of eight kids to win worldwide, but your mom turns you down. I sat down in pure annoyance. My eyes narrowed. My mom was doing this dished, facing away from me, but I could tell she wasn't going to give in anytime soon. I walked to my room and sat down of my bed. I flopped onto my back. This was horrible in every way possible.
