Chapter Twenty: Return to Reality

DELANEY'S POV

I was walking through the woods near the school.

Trees were on their sides, the ground was scorched, and it was all because of my crest.

I looked at it, holding at eye level. I sighed and closed my eyes before sitting on a tree stump.

"Delaney." I turned around to see Reemon. Another figure was next to him.

Koichi.

"What's wrong?"

"My crest did all of this. Stupid thing."

I threw it onto a nearby tree trunk.

It hit the trunk and aqua light exploded from it.

I walked a little closer and picked up my crest.

The light soon surrounded Reemon, Koichi, and I.

I shut my eyes and didn't open them until the blinding light was gone.

I saw buildings and people.

Non-DigiDestined people.

If they HAD been DigiDestined, I would have known.

I could feel sweat coming down my face, mouth open in shock.

My crest had just opened a gateway to Earth!

How did that happen?

TK'S POV

"Have you seen Delaney around?" I asked Kari.

She shook her head. "Why?"

"I haven't seen her all day." I saw aqua light from the forest.

Last time that had happened, she had used her crest.

Kari seemed to notice too, because she looked out the window too.

Was she in danger?

This question haunted me as the light faded.

DELANEY'S POV

I was still in shock. I picked up Reemon from the ground next to my feet. Koichi was clearly surprised as well.

"How is that possible?!?" I whispered.

"I-I'm not sure," Koichi stuttered.

This was beyond freaky. My mouth was still open.

"Hey. You have a Digimon. You must be a DigiDestined."

I whirled around to see a girl with short, spiky, black hair with a blue streak. She had bright green eyes and was slightly tanned.

"Who are you?" Koichi asked.

"Name's Kira. And you are?" I realized an Otamamon was at her feet.

"I'm Koichi and this is Delaney. How do you know what Digimon are?" Koichi replied.

"I have one. And plus I'm a DigiDestined like you two."

"Try throwing your crest again. Last time it opened a portal to the other world. Maybe that's how we'll get back," Reemon suggested.

We were in the middle of the street, so I went into a nearby park.

Tossing my tag and crest again, it did open a portal. "You should come with us. If you're a DigiDestined, you should be with others like you. Like us," I told Kira.

She seemed hesitant. "I can't. That's all you need to know."

Then Kira tripped on a rock when she tried to walk away. While she was falling, the portal swallowed her up before disappearing.

All I could see was my crest lying on the ground.

Was that it?

I threw it again, but nothing happened. I looked at it.

Stupid crest.

First it put my friends in danger, and now it leaves Koichi, Reemon, and I stranded in the real world!
