Chapter One: True or False?

SAM'S POV

So I met a kid named Delaney. We talked a little bit. When a brick building came into view, we went silent.

"What in the?" Delaney asked.

"That must be the place." I looked at her. As the car came to a stop, I picked up my backpack.

"Maybe we'll be in the same dorm," Delaney said hopefully.

"I hope," I whispered. Delaney and I walked inside. We found the dorm section. Some voices began to echo in the hall.

"Hey, did you hear about that TV channel? They gave away some student places without the principal's permission."

"I know! That idea is so dumb!"

"I wonder who the students are. Maybe they ARE DigiDestined."

"Sora! This was some weird TV channel! You believe that?!?"

"Tai's right. They must be fakes!"

Delaney and I gasped. "Fakes? We're not supposed to be here?" Delaney exclaimed.

"Matt! They're right outside our door! Be quiet!" I was curious about who they were. A girl with red hair opened the door. "Hi! My name is Sora. Welcome to DigiDestined Academy!"

"I'm Sam, and this is Delaney," I introduced.

"And I think there was a misunderstanding."

"Tai! Be quiet!" A blonde boy had said this. He sat with a brown haired boy.

"That TV station lied!"

"No reason to call them out on it!"

"Will you two shut up?" Sora screamed.

"Well, I'm sure that one of them can stay with us," the blonde boy said. "We have an extra bed."

"You go ahead, Sam. I'm leaving," Delaney told me.

"You can stay with my little brother, TK," the blonde boy told me. "I'm Matt and this dude here is Tai."

"What is Kari? Invisible?" Tai asked Matt.

"Okay. TK lives with Tai's little sister, Kari."

"Which direction?" Delaney asked. She looked at the floor.

"One door to the right," Sora told me. Delaney waved and left.

DELANEY'S POV

Fakes? I can't believe it. I wanted to leave, but somehow I couldn't bring myself to. So I walked down the hallway to that room. I knocked.

"Who is it?" A little girl had spoken. She opened the door. "I'm Kari. And you are?"

"I'm Delaney. I'm new." I looked at the floor.

"Kari, who's at the door?"

"A girl named Delaney. Do you want to come in?" Kari asked me.

I nodded. "Thanks."

"TK, this is Delaney. Delaney, TK."

"Nice to meet you." I can be really quiet sometimes. All I saw was the floor.

A knock came at the door. It was Tai. He opened the door. "Did you hear about that TV station? Fake! Some kids are at the school, not DigiDestined."

"Tai!" Kari whispered. "It's okay, Kari," I said. "I don't belong anyway." I ran out the door. This was all a mistake. I was one of those fake kids, not DigiDestined or whatever Tai had said. What did that mean anyway? I wasn't sticking around to find out.

"Delaney!" I turned around to see Kari. "Don't listen to Tai. He's just stubborn sometimes. Please stay," she begged.

I closed my eyes. Whatever happened here would be better than my lonely life back home. "Okay. I'll stay."
