We slept early last night. The injuries from the fight yesterday took a heavy toll on us. I spent a lot of mana to heal ourself. And this morning, we woke up early, feeling the worst I've ever felt. Our whole body ache. The cuts on our skin are gone, but there's still some bruises left here and there. I didn't heal us completely to save mana.

I want to talk to the other kids to get their cooperation and plan for an escape. I tried to talk with them yesterday. But it's hard to do that after fighting them. Especially since half of them was still unconscious and the rest were traumatized. So after trying a couple of times last night, I gave up. Let's give them some time to calm down.

Today, I'll try again. Since it's hard to get everyone to listen, I'll try using bait.

The breads.

So here we are, sitting with our eyes closed in front of the door. It's still early. Everyone else are still sleeping.

Right at dawn as the streak of sun ray emerge on the horizon I heard footsteps.

"Bang." The door flew open.

I opened my eyes and saw the bread guy staring at me with indifferent face. We stared at each other in silence for a while. I can't tell what he is thinking. His facial expression doesn't betray him even bit as he stood there motionlessly.

Why is he staying still and not throwing the breads in? Does he find making us wait longer amusing? Or, did we not getting any for the trouble we cause yesterday?

I shift my gaze, eyeing the basket in his hands. It's not empty. What a relief.

It's funny how I am looking forward to this lump of mouldy, rock-hard dough they called bread. In my previous life I didn't think twice to throw out expired breads, even if there's no mould on it at all. Such luxury doesn't exist here in this world. Anything edible is a good food.

"Hogging the breads for yourself?" The bread guy asked, smirking.

"Uh.. No. We just want to take our share before them." I answered spontaneously, stuttering a bit. I try my best to put on a poker face.

The sudden question startled me. They never really talk to any of us, aside from when they tell us about the foods for the first time.

"Heh, nice try. But you are 10 years too early to even try lying to me."

I really want to punch his smug face right now. But I have to be patient. Even if I manage to surprise him and knock him out, I can't beat the other two kidnappers on my own. And there's no way all the other kids can beat the other two.

Wait, maybe Fatso together with the two bread fighters can take one down, or delay one of them long enough for me to finish my guy and help them. But there's no way the other three can last one second.

"No need to worry, I don't care." He said, putting the basket of breads in the wagon before closing the door.

What he said surprised me. But more than that, him putting the breads with the basket instead of throwing it on the floor as per usual surprised me even more.

This is probably due to how dirty the wagon floor currently is. Stains of blood and faeces covered most of it. But I still didn't expect them to be considerate about that since it seems hygiene aren't a priority in this world. These kidnappers themselves wore dirty clothes and smells bad. Just like father...

Mom...  Dad...

I look at Emi's sleeping face. There's still some dark bruises on her forehead. Her eyes are swollen from the crying she did every night as she cried herself to sleep.
