ch 31.6 : Priscilla's story

Morning has arrive after a long, cold night. The sun shine it's warm ray from beyond the snowy mountains onto a small town.

The adults began to wake up and preparing for another day. Farmers pick up their tools and went to their fields. Hunters wraps up their supplies and wander in the thick jungle. While their kids... continue to sleep comfortably in their warm bed.

It's just another day for them, except for one small family of young parents and child.

They're all awake, even the little child. Yet the father, who hunts for a living, is still in the village, donning a nicer garment than one would wear for hunting.

Today is not just another day for this young family. They're at the town's gate, waiting for a certain caravan. The father is bringing them to visit his parents who's living in a village quite a distant away.

Their little girl is especially eager, for this is going to be her first time travelling outside of the town.

Not long after the sun rise, the caravans they were waiting for arrived.

"Mommy, look! It's here! It's here!" The child exclaimed excitedly at the sight of a convoy of four caravans.

The caravans belongs to a merchant, who travels to nearby villages for their business. They also provide transportation service on the side.

While the merchant deal with the town's gatekeeper, the passengers gets into the designated caravan. There's only one other passenger aside from them. A total stranger.

It's rare to not know a person since they live in a small town. After a greeting and a small talk, they get to know that he was visiting a relative in this town.

Once everything is settled, the caravan roll out.

Not many people travels, as they live day to day. And it's even rarer at this time of the year, since it is the planting season. Even men of other profession will put their work aside for a bit and help out on the field.

But that's exactly why the father choose this time to visit. To help out his parents a bit.

Normally they won't be able to, as they also need to be on the field. It is by a stroke of luck that a rich noble passed through their small town, and the father got the opportunity to work for them.

And by an amazing coincidence, the noble have a favorable impression of him because they look alike. The nobleman said its as if he's looking at his younger self.

Thus, the father had got them a good amount of money, enough to not worry about their belly for a few years.

And now, they're going to visit their parent, to share this joyous moment.

Unfortunately, their good luck doesn't last.

The four caravans are passing through a dense forest when something unexpected happen.

"Crash! Crash!"

Huge trees came crashing down across the road at both the front and the back of the convoy, effectively trapping the whole convoy inside a barricade of fallen trees.

"Fire!" An intimidating voice bellowed from the edge of the dense forest surrounding the road.

Suddenly a large number of people jump out of the forest and surround them from all side.
