I think I've heard of The Shadow from mother. But the story was quite different.
The Shadow is a demon lurking in the human world. It's very tall and scary. They love doing evil things. They also like bad people. And if they find a bad people, especially a bad kid, when the night falls and the bad kid is alone, they will visit the kid and take them away. The bad kid will disappear forever.
Or something like that. But clearly, mother's version is to scare mischievous childrens. She used to tell us the story whenever we threw tantrum because she won't let us go outside.
Mom, dad. I wonder how they are right now. Are they looking for us? I wish they are, but mom has a frail body. I don't think she can travel for a long time to look for us. And dad can't just leave mom alone, since she's so sickly.
Ah, no point in thinking about something out of my reach. I can only pray that they stay healthy. and one day, we can meet again.
Once we escape from here.
"Leaaaa... where are we going?" Emi asked.
"... I don't know... "
"uh-huh... I want to go home... " Emi weep.
"... Me too... " I replied under my breath while stroking her hair.
Not long after we were loaded into the carriage, the Bear and his men came out of the store. We are in a carriage right in the middle of the five carriages parked outside the slavery. Judging from the same emblem and fancy decorations the carriages have, all this carriages must be of the same owner.
Bear and his men passed by the carriage we are in and head toward the carriage at the front. Bear, two, three, four. Four of them at the front. And there's two guarding us. That's six.
The spooky shadow guy scared me so much I forgot to count their heads. But I'm pretty sure there's at least a couple more.
Yep, I was right. Just a moment later more people came out of the slavery and head towards the back carriages. One, two... Huh..? One two three four five, six, Kal, Lina. So... There's eight of them. They also bought Kal, Lina and a few more slaves. Looks like they all were shoved into a single carriage, but I couldn't really tell. The carriage are parked in a straight line so the carriage behind mine are blocking my line of sight.
"Rumble. "
The convoy of five carriages began moving.
Once again, we are on the move. I've lost track of how many days we've been on the road since we got kidnapped. Of how many days away we are from home. I'm not even sure how much time has passed. Was it a month? I'm not sure. But the season still haven't change so a month is probably about right.
The carriages is moving through the huge gate, leaving the town that I don't even know it's name behind. The wagon we were in while on the way here doesn't have any window or anything of the sort. But this one have one on each side. This carriage is quite a luxurious ride, even when compared to most other carriages I saw in town. The interior is small compared to the wagon as this carriage seems to be separated into two compartment, but there's more than enough room for us to jump around as we are the only one in here.
The land outside the town wall are filled with fields and farmlands. There's people out there working on their fields. And it's not just adults. There's kid and elderly on the fields too. Helping with whatever they can, before their back pain force them to rest early, before butterflies and friends distract them away.
Now that I'm in this situation, it seems so easy to kidnap those unaware kids.
"..eaa.. Leaaaa! Look! That big flower is so pretty! Emi shouted excitedly as she showed me a patch of big red flowers growing on a small mound.
