"Lina!"

We kneel beside her and pull her onto our lap. She's still breathing. But she's unconscious. I don't know what's the reason. But I know that it's because of us. Because of me!

Guilt and anger start welling inside me. Again, and again, and again, I put others in danger without thinking it through. Why are they treating us like this? Why? Because we are weak? It's frustrating! It's horrible. It's inhumane!

"Y... You! You are bad! BAD!" Emi shouted her lungs out.

"Thump."

Huh? What is happening to us? I felt our mana is surging violently inside our body, followed by an urge deep from our gut. A horrible, dark urge to destroy everything in front of us. The surging flow of our magic is very violent and... vile, it make me feel uncomfortable, make me feel nauseous.

I look at Emi. A cold sweat ran down my forehead. Her sweet and innocent eyes are filled with anger and hatred as she glare at Kanan.

"Emi! Carry Lina to bed!" I instruct her, distracting her from her thought while I took control and calm the magic energy surging inside our body.

In my peripheral vision I saw Kanan suddenly stagger backward. Huh? What happened to him? I look directly at him but he seems to be standing just fine. Maybe just my imagination.

Emi hugged the unconscious Lina tightly like a doll and stood up. When we turn around to go to the stairs, An is standing right in front of us.

"Let me carry her." An reach out his hand, offering to help.

"Go away!" Emi shouted defensively while tightening her hug on Lina. Her fear of stranger get in the way of her reasoning, making her unable to recognize a helping hand.

"Thump!"

It's happening again, stonger than before. I closed my eyes and focus on calming the nauseating violent magic inside us once more.

This reminds me of the first night we were born, when the mysterious master taught me magic. Ah! I finally realise what is happening. The urge. The unfamiliar flow of magic. It's magic manifestation! Emi probably has awakened her own magic!

I opened my eyes just in time to see Kanan lost his balance and fall backwards onto his butt with a pained and dumbfounded look on his face, not knowing what happened to himself. Emi sprinted past him and rush up the stairs into our room with Lina's dangling legs dragging on the floor and hitting every step of the stairs.

Emi burst into tears as she put the unconscious Lina on our comfy bed. She held it in for so long. We are trembling uncontrollably so I took over the control of our body. I went back to the door and lock it. But they have the key, just locking the door won't even buy us three seconds. So I drag a chair to the door and wedge it under the doorknob.

"Lea... Lina... Lina is..." Emi sobbed.

"Shhh... It will be fine." I assure her irresponsibly.

It's not fine! Lina have been through a lot herself. Now she's dragged into our mess too. I hurriedly went to Lina's side and start gathering all the mana I could muster to heal her.

But where do I start? There's no visible injury anywhere. And I don't know exactly why she is unconscious either.

Brain! That's all that matter. I placed our hands on each side of her temple and start using our healing magic on her head. The whole room shine bright green. Thankfully we have thick curtain on our window and our door is shut close. But even if someone did see it, I couldn't care less about it. Right now, Lina is our top priority.

"Clink. Thud!" not even ten seconds has passed and someone is trying to open the door. But the chair did the trick. I stopped using healing magic and wait silently for whoever outside to shout at us to open the door.

"Clank!" The chair move to the side and then fall over by itself.

The door opened and Kanan came in. He must have used his magic to move the chair aside. How the heck he figured out there was a chair blocking the door?

"Oh, clever." Kanan commented when he saw the fallen chair.

"Go away!" Emi shouted at Kanan while her face is covered with tear and snot.

"What do you want!?" I added angrily.

"She just fainted. Let her sleep for a few hours and she will be fine. " He said confidently.

"Ugh..." Lina woke up right after Kanan finish talking . "EmiLea? What happened? Why are you guys crying?"

"Linaaaaa! I wash shoo schaed." Emi pounced onto her and hugged her.

"Ouch. My neck hurts! " Lina complained. She saw Kanan and went silent, her body start trembling. She must've re-remember what just happened.

I pull ourself away from Lina and turn to face Kanan. Kanan waltz in nonchalantly as if he's done nothing wrong to us.

"Hey, get out." I said as polite as I can right now.

"Listen." He began.

"Get out!" We both shouted together, ignoring him.

Kanan is clearly pissed at us.

"Don't be conceited, brat!" He shouted back at us. "Know your place. You are a slave! And this happened because you play with fire. Blame yourselves for being stupid!"

"Shudupppp!" Emi screamed. "You hurt Lina! You!"

"THUMP!"

Our mana surge up violently again, accompanied by the uncomfortable, nauseating feeling. I still don't know what magic Emi awakened. But the magic flow, the violent surge, the nauseating feeling, my instinct tells me it's something that's completely different from healing magic. Something that's vile, dangerous, and destructive.

But I didn't bother calming down the surging, violent mana flowing inside us. I'm not going to stop Emi. I can't think straight. I'm too angry at this horrible person for involving Lina.

Emi strengthened our body with magic and gather the rest into our hands. She then reach for a chair by the table and channelled the violent magic energy into the chair before spinning three hundred sixty degree and throwing the chair towards Kanan's face.

"Heh, that's not gonna work against me." Kanan said smugly.

Kanan raise his right hand to stop the chair with his magic. But somehow his magic didn't hinder the chair at all and he had to block it with his right arm.

"Arghhh!" Kanan screamed painfully. "You're f*cking dead!"

Kanan swing his left hand towards us. Ah, this is bad. Emi tried to move  aside, but our mana depleted, and the strengthening magic ended, making us sluggish. I've used almost all of our magic healing Lina. A surge of magic hit us, sending us flying into the wall behind us a few feet above the floor.

"Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! " Lina let out a horrified, ear bursting scream.

"Cough!"

Blood came out from both of our mouth. Kanan's magic keep us pinned against the wall a few feet above the floor. He's shouting something at us, but my consciousness is getting hazy. I can't make out what he's saying. The noise gets louder, but it doesn't concern me anymore.

Ah... I did it again... I should've see this coming, picking a fight with an adult mage.

Emi... I'm sorry... I truly am...

The world, the pain, the noise, everything fade away.
