ch 30.5: Jing POW

"Alright, warrior..." Master let's his sentence trail off unfinished, he's uncertain what to call this tall warrior.

"Kold. Call me Kold." The man in question answered.

"Warrior Kold, you will work as a warrior of my household. We will determine the pay later after we test your ability furthur and assign your job. Is this fine with you?" Master ask this massive man.

"Yes." He answered absent mindedly. His attention is on the two headed kid sleeping soundly on his lap. The child tire themselves to sleep from crying so much.

Contrary to his huge frame, he holds them very gently.

"Never mind that, how were they?" He ask master about the child.

"They... have gone through a lot." Master answered vaguely after a moment of silence.

"Really?" He want the details.

"The slaver told me that a lot happened while transporting them."

"What happen?"

"They were transported with a bunch of other kids. There should be about ten kids altogether I think. Something happened and the other kids ganged up on them."

"My poor baby." He gently caress their heads.

"Umm.. no. The story goes that they beat the shit out of the other kids. Like literally. Shits are everywhere. And they become kinda the boss of those kids for the rest of the transport."

"Hahaha. There's no way that's true."

"Well, I think.."

"No way right?" He pressed.

"Ye.. yeah. ha.. ha.." Master let out an awkward, anxious laugh. "Anyway, We are leaving for my fief tomorrow. So, are you coming with us? Or do you have other matter to tend to first?"

"Why? You have been staying here at the capital for months. Why now?"

Looks like he have done his homework on us, investigated us before striking.

"I have been planning to leave for a while. It just got pulled ahead because of the ruckus we made earlier. We will get in trouble if we stay any longer. You've got something to do?"

"Yeah. It will take a while."

"Then, after you're done, head to my manor in Jhor city. Take this token. Show it to the guard there. They will be informed of what to do."

"Got it."

"Maid! Put EmiLea in their bed." Master ordered a maid to take the girl from this giant man. "Then, let's talk a bit more over a meal?"

A maid approach them.

"No, I'll carry them. Can you bring the food over?" The massive man stood up towering above the maid. The poor maid is shaking, scared of this giant man. He's so tall that she won't be able to slap him without jumping.

"... Alright. Kanan, show him the way." Kanan is stuck with the short straw, having to look over them since he's the only mage available right now.

"Send lunch his way. And send mine to the study." Master gave another order. "An, Jing, come with me."

We follow master to his study.

"An, get a rider to send this letter to the next town. Jing, bring a few men with you and buy our provision."

"To the church..?" An read the recipient questioningly, indirectly asking master the content by showing his interest.

"Yeah. It's a notice. I want to use their church's hall. Jing, make sure you get everything we need. An, watch your brother. Now go!"

"Yes, master." We answered.

. . . . .

"Man, master is ruthless. They had just met with their father, and now they're going to go separate way again."

"Hmm.." An is looking through the food lists.

"I'm sure those crybaby will cry nonstop tomorrow when they part way. Their eyes will swell so much they will look like shit. And master is going to make them gather donation the day after? He's on other level when it comes to greed."

"Stop badmouthing him. He's the master. He can do whatever he want. Don't get whipped for talking nonsense." An shove the list back to me.

"I know, I know."

"Buy all of them now, except for the breads and fruits. For those two, go place the order and take them early in the morning tomorrow. I'm off to send this letter."

"Just go. Sho sho.."

An get off from the wagon and walk off towards the messenger office.

Well, An is right. But still, poor kid. Master should let them rest and get used to travelling first.

I went to the marketplace and buy  the items in the list.

"Mister, can I order fruits for tomorrow morning?"

"If you pay first, of course!" The seller's eyes lit up seeing stuffs we've bought in our wagon, expecting a big purchase from us.

"Tomorrow morning, prepare a barrel of this, this, and..." Then I saw something interesting.

Blood berries.

An hate this berry because how easy it is to make a mess eating it, and how hard it is to clean up the mess.

Ah!

I suddenly got a brilliant idea. The idea is so brilliant it makes me scared of my own wits.

I can't stop grinning as I imagine how things will turn up the day after tomorrow. But whether this will work or not will depends entirely on the kid.

Let's hope they're still a stupid kid.
