"Can we take it back from the top please?" Freddie murmured cautiously to the other Queen members. They were tired, all of them are. Tired and famished. But Freddie wanted to do another instrumental round for the song Play The Game before they called it a night. Freddie was genuinely unaware that the time had passed for his promised Date Night with Alice.
Alice had just arrived in the studio, she greeted the sound engineer, Steve, and the runner, Andy. Both were surprised to see her, more so in her tiny black dress paired with a faux fur coat. She glanced to the band inside the live recording room, and Brian was the first to notice her. He continued playing but glanced to Freddie to see if he noticed that his beau was here. Freddie was playing on the piano, with his eyes closed, completely immersed in the music. Alice pouted, with her arms folded biting her lower lip. She flashed a forced smile to Brian which made him swallow nervously.
Freddd... Brian mouthed silently hoping Freddie would open his eyes and wake up from his trance. Moments in Freddie looked up to see all Queen members looking nervously at him, they hinted him to glance in the control room. There Alice was standing looking exquisite in her Little Black Dress, her makeup natural and simple paired with coral peach lipstick and her shoulder-length hair shining under the yellow light of the studio; and yet her expression was of annoyance. Her arms were folded, which was never a good sign. He wondered if they should continue playing or stop, right there and then.
But they were down to the last minute, so Freddie gestured to the band to continue playing. His head running wild thoughts of how he should handle the situation, he knew he has not been the best boyfriend to Alice in the last few weeks, but the pressure was on for the band to release a good album.
Alice sat next to the engineer, intrigued of all the buttons she had in front of him. "How long have you guys been in here?" she asked to the engineer.
"6-7 hours..." he muttered anxiously.
"Have you guys had anything to eat?" she asked genuinely concerned.
"Yes, I mean no... We have chips at the back, if you're hungry."
"Right, chips... Should we order pizza or something?" she asked, her chin resting to her palm.
"Sure... If the band is okay with it..."
Alice stood up and looked back to the band. She took a deep breath and realized it was best not throwing an unnecessary tantrum, Phoebe was right, Freddie and the boys were hard at work. They looked tired, and hungry. When the recording was over, Alice went to the microphone and buzzed. "Do you guys want Pizza? I can order pizza..."
"Yeah!" "Sure!" "I'm down!" the rest of the Queen members answered at the same time. Alice snickered, she could tell the other boys were answering to her nervously, as they would with their own partner.
"Fred darling, how about you?" she asked searching for Freddie at the piano. But he swiftly appeared next to her, turning her around by the waist. She turned to face him but Freddie was looking down the whole time with an apologetic look.
He looked up and nervously chanted, "I'm sorry. I don't deserve you. We can still make it to our dinner though." Alice heave a sigh, she got what she wanted, making him feel guilty but it did not make her feel any better. She pulled him in for a hug, her arms around his waist and her chin rested on his chest, looking up to him. He stared blankly to the floor, embarrassed to even look her in the eye.
"Sokay, we can just have pizza. I don't mind..." she mumbled standing on her tip toe to nudge their noses, urging him to look at her. Freddie looked up to her eyes and held her face in his palm. He then started to shower her with kisses mumbling in between, "I. Don't. Deserve. You."
"Stop it Fred..." Alice fumbled erupting into laughter. The engineer who was seating nearby scooted his body further under the mixing desk as to not get caught in the midst of the couple's display of affection.
"Yes please! Please, stop it!" a voice dramatically shrieked. It was Roger's, most Queen members were numbed with the couple's very public display of affection.
"Okay I'm taking orders!" John conveniently held a scrap of paper and a pencil. "Mine is the usual, pizza with meat pepperoni, without any of Brian's dreaded pineapple toppings. Anything else?" Brian squinted his eyes annoyed at John's statement.
"I want the Veggie Mania," Brian said leaning to John to purposely whisper. "With extra pineapples please..." John glared back to Brian, peeved.
"I want Cheese mania, just plain cheese! I'm a simple guy," Roger said impatiently, twirling his drum sticks. "Oh and extra chili flakes!" John then glanced to the couple who were still hugging each other, oblivious of everyone else. Freddie was seated on the mixing desk, hands to Alice's waist and she stood leaning to his body.
"Guys..." John walked up to the oblivious couple. "Your pizza toppings?" The couple giggled and whispered to each other, ignoring poor John. "Ya know what, its fine. I'll get the usual."
