Compared to Alice's first pregnancy, the second was a far more rough experience. Her first pregnancy with Elle was a unicorn pregnancy in which everything was smooth sailing and there were no problems up until the delivery. For the second pregnancy it was quite the opposite, Alice's morning sickness would regularly come even during her third trimester.
On a mundane Wednesday when Alice was around 7 months pregnant, after having a hearty breakfast, she started to feel unwell. Alice laid on her back on the couch flipping through the Vogue magazine, her ankles rested on Freddie who sat on the other end of the couch with Elle on his lap, reading her the ABCs.
A sudden craving bursted in her throat, she felt the need for durian, the king of the fruits. She knew there's only one place in London that had it, Chinatown. Alice laid the Vogue magazine onto her chest, her palms rested to her tummy as she grazed Freddie's thigh with her feet, trying to get his attention.
"M is for monkey~! N is for ne-est-est! O is for octopus~" Freddie sang cheerfully with Elle on his lap, both of them bobbing their heads to the side syncing together. When he felt Alice's touch he instantly looked to her, and was greeted with her pout. A very familiar pout, an I-have-a-weird-craving-to-be-satisfied pout. As Elle continued singing her ABCs Freddie attended to his wife, "Yes dear."
"We need to get Durian," Alice said with such urgency he could see the outline of the fruit in her eyes. "I think they sell them in Chinatown."
"Yes mam!" Freddie replied with a wink to her, channeling his Harrison Ford accent.
With Elle perched up to the side of his waist, the small family were out of the door in less than 10 minutes. As Freddie was about to lock the door Alice turned around with her index finger up.
"I forgot my sunglasses," she muttered walking back into the entrance. But Alice suddenly found herself physically shoving Freddie out of the way, ran to the nearest guest bathroom and began to puke herself for a good five minutes.
Freddie looked to Elle, her eyes round in horror. The maid, Emily, came out from the kitchen concerned listening to Alice's gut-wrenching, blood-curling vomiting sounds from the toilet. Freddie put down Elle to the floor and started to remove his bomber jacket. Almost instantly the sound of the toilet flushing was heard and Alice walked out of the door with a calm expression heaving a breath of fresh air.
Alice looked to Freddie and tap him on the shoulder, "Okay let's go to Chinatown." Seeing her super mom, Elle jumped up and down happily as a request to be picked up. With Elle in her arms, Alice turned to Freddie who stood frozen where he was, still in disbelief.
"But--- But you were just sick," Freddie gasped, his bomber jacket still hanging on the other half of his body.
Alice tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ears and muttered with a smug, "Yes and now I'm hungry, get in the car."
