Alice was changing into the gown that was handed by the attending nurse. Freddie was seated nervously at the waiting room, holding her handbag and coat. Alice was right, he did insist that he would rather have 10 cats rather than having a tiny potato baby. He saw how children had changed the other Queen members' life for the better and yet, he did not know if he could handle the stress and paranoia of raising one himself. But yesterday seeing Alice the way she was, he knew he had to step up  and take responsibility. Moreover, his mom would be enthusiastic if Alice was pregnant with their child, that's all she ever asked ever since they got together.

Alice stepped out of the changing room in a big over-sized patient gown, her hair tied into an effortless tousled bun. Freddie teased her, "Well hello there sexy!" Alice flashed him a weak smile and sat herself next to him.

As she settled herself, she wriggled her hands into his, and rested her chin to his shoulder, breathing him in, warming the tip of her nose to his chin. He turned a little to face her, "You nervous darling?" and she said no.

"Will I be a good mom?" she muttered.

"You'll be the BEST MOM darling," he tightened his grip on her hand. He could feel it cold and it was trembling, he raised it to his lips and planted a kiss between her knuckles.

She tucked a hair behind her ears, then slowly she looked up to meet his gaze. "Because I realized I'd be stuck doing all the hard stuff," she reasoned. "All the diapers and the vaccinations appointments, I'd be doing the disciplining, and you'd just become the Fun Daddy who goes on tour and leave mommy at home with the baby." Freddie smacked his lips amused.

"Darling," he paused, one arm around her shoulder. "I don't just want a child, I need a child. I have to know that I could love a person unconditionally, that I could make our little nugget feel welcome and wanted no matter what. That I could be a great father like my dad. That I could raise a child who won't repeat the same mistakes that I did, to make the baby feel loved. And don't be silly, mommy and baby will go wherever Fun Daddy goes." Alice suppressed an incoming smile, she would never thought he would be this serious and supportive about having a baby. He had always relished in the freedom of his Rockstar lifestyle and yet now, he was willing to drop everything.

Just as the conversation was getting more intense, a door in front of them creaked open with a nurse's head bobbing to the side. "Mr. and Mrs. Mercury...?"

"Yes, over here!" Freddie answered raising his hand, his eyes still on Alice's. He placed his hands on both of her shoulders, guiding her up carefully.

"I'm good love. I can walk," she insisted with a wry smile.

They both walked hand-in-hand into the examination room and was greeted by an older male doctor with white hair, humid breath and thick fingers. Alice tightened her grip on Freddie's hand, he looked back to her with a reassuring gaze.

"Hello my name is Dr. Andrew Shepard," the doctor offered his hand.

"I'm Freddie, Freddie Mercury." He shook the doctor's hand firmly.

"Big fan. My 12-year-old was singing Bohemian Rhapsody for two months straight, owe that to you Sir." The doctor blurted out with a huge smile. Freddie flashed his toothy grin while Alice nudged him with her elbow, teasing him. She knew Freddie had always been shy and reserved in real life, hence it was nice to be reminded from random fans how his music had touched their lives.

"And you must be his lovely beau, Miss Alice Ainsworth. How are you today mademoiselle?" he leaned his hand forward.

"I'm good thank you," Alice shook back his hand.

"Please have a seat over here," the doctor pointed to the examination table. Freddie helped her on the table and sneaked a quick kiss to her cheek. He could tell she was nervous. "So, what can I help you with today, Mr. and Mrs. Mercury?"

"I--- I have been vomiting lately, and I missed my period by a few months, I think. I'm actually not sure. And so, here we are." She explained, her hand not once letting go of Freddie's.

"Okay then let's have a look. Legs up," the doctor grabbed a chair and positioned himself between her legs. Alice dragged her body up the examination table and slowly laid herself, still holding onto Freddie's hand. Seeing her nervous, he sneaked a quick kiss to her forehead.

"Nice office by the way," Freddie nervously said as the doctor began to examine her genital area. Freddie glanced to Alice who looked back to him with pursed lips, anxious.

"Oh thank you," he flashed a smile to Freddie. Freddie forced back a smile to him and glanced back to Alice, taking her hand to his lips and rubbing it. Dr. Shepard picked up a long cone shaped device and muttered, "This is going to be a little cold." Alice nodded, lifting her neck curious.

"And you're next!" Dr. Shepard joked to Freddie, he forced a laugh down his throat. "I'm just joking." Moments in and Alice felt the device going inside her, it was uncomfortable, it was like being clutched by a cold bird claw.

The doctor lifted his head and faced the monitor next to them, an image appeared on the screen. "There's the cervix, and the uterus. See that? That dark sac there, that's the amniotic sac. And right there, in the middle is the embryo." Dr. Shepard explained, they both looked to the monitor in awe.

Freddie lowered himself and leaned in to caressed her hair, "It's our little nugget darling." Alice felt her eyes watery, her hand moved to her tummy.

"Do you see that flicker in the middle of the embryo, that's the heartbeat. I can turn it up if you want to hear it?" the doctor asked looking to both parents. Impulsively they nodded almost instantly.

The doctor reached for a button near the monitor and almost instantly the sound travelled around the room, "Dug dug, dug dug, dug dug, dug dug..." Freddie kissed Alice by the cheek, his eyes not once leaving the monitor. Alice caressed her tummy softly, another heart was beating inside of her, she was overwhelmed. Its real, the baby is real, their little nugget is real.

"Sounds healthy! Yeah it looks like you are pregnant, about eight or nine weeks, I'd say. Congratulations!" the doctor slowly removed the device as the sound of the heartbeat drifted away.

Alice pointed to the monitor, "That--- that's it?"

"Yes, take good care of it." The doctor removed his gloves. "Now the fun part starts! Anyway I will give you guys some time alone, I will come back with some forms for you to fill." Swiftly the doctor left the room.

Alice looked to Freddie her eyes wide. Freddie helped her up as sat herself upright on the examination table with Freddie standing in front; parting her legs apart, hands wrapped around her waist. She nuzzled to his face, hands to his neck pulling him in as they shared that silence together.

"We're having a baby..." Freddie broke the silence. He then hugged Alice with her face in the crook of his neck. Filled with a sudden, heavy gratefulness, Freddie leaned back and kissed her on the forehead.

"What's that for?"

"For making me a father," Freddie said with a smile. Alice felt her eyes full with tears, she looked down for a second to discreetly blink them off. But Freddie pulled her by the chin and wiped her tears, he leaned in and planted a kiss on her lips.
