Mr.Not-So-Perfect

Chapter 20

Sometimes people become so oblivious to their surroundings and indulge in their own la la land that they ignore the facts that were dancing in front of them unless reality slaps them on the face forcing them to connect the dots projected. Yeah, I'm one of them.

I don't know, until now why I did not figured that Advay's in love with Shailaja. Those were practically throwing the clues right at my face and I, being the stupid I am, neglected all those. First, at Evan's party they came as a couple then, Advay literally sharing everything with her the next moment it happened like the time I fell in the fountain. Afterwards, Advay bailed on our practice time just to hang out with Shailaja. When you consider all these, nobody could defy that they both are in love.

I spent half of the day wondering these things and did not come out of these thoughts until a calling bell rung. As I opened the door I was surprised, to say the least. Yeah, I've been doing that a lot.

"Hey", Riddanth greeted with a bright and warm smile that could melt any girl's heart as soon as I opened the door. Too shocked and tired to respond I just smiled at him, which I'm sure looked like a grimace.

"Aren't you gonna invite me in?", he asked when I did not do anything but stare at him wondering why him, of all people, was at my apartment's door at this time.

"Sorry. Sure, come in", I finally invited him in. We both settled on a sofa.

"You have nice place", he commented looking around.

"Thank you. Uh-not to be rude or something but why are you here?", I finally voiced the question out which was nagging since the moment I saw him at the door.

"Oh I wanted to check up on you because you did not come to the classes since yesterday afternoon. Good thing I came, because you look bad. What happened", he asked looking at me worriedly.

I don't blame him. I'd be worried if one of my friends appears in the state I'm right now. Bloodshot eyes and disheveled hair.

"Nothing", I lied looking anywhere but him.

"If you don't want to tell me, its fine and I understand because you hardly knew me for a week. But believe me when I say, whatever it is, it's not worth it if it made you a crying mess, okay?', he said gently holding my hands with his' and looking at me with an expression I could not decipher. We stared at each other until I averted my gaze unable to bare the intensity with which he is looking at me.

"Anyways, did you had your lunch", he asked and I shook my mumbling no.

"Okay, you go freshen up and I'll make something for us to eat", he said with a smile.

"No, no. Its fine. You don't have to do anything", I tried to convince him but obviously it did not work.

"I know but I want to. How could I pass a great opportunity to impress you with my awesome cooking skills", he said in a serious tone but his grin said otherwise which made me smile.

I did not agree but he more or less ordered me and forced me. After giving the directions to the kitchen and explaining everything I went to take the much needed shower.

After about half hour I was decent enough to be categorized as a normal human and not some messed up person. I went out to find that Riddanth has setup everything. By everything I meant pasta, sandwiches and orange juice. I know it isn't much but it is for me. It shows that he cares for me and I couldn't help but be moved with this gesture. I thanked him and we ate lunch. The pasta was the most delicious pasta I ever tasted. He sure has awesome cooking skills.

"That was wonderful", I praised him after we settled on the couch.

"Thank you. So, did you enjoy it", he asked looking at me.

"Yes", I answered.

"So..", he said looking at me expectantly.

"So what", I questioned genuinely confused.

"This is the part where you swoon and confess your undying love for me", he said in an obvious tone puffing his chest out.

"What?"

"Hey, this is what happens in most of the romance movies and novels", he pouted. I laughed hearing his answer and his expression.

"Y-you w-watch ro-mance movies", I sputtered in between my laughing fits. He blushed remembering his mistake.

"No", he said embarrassedly and looked away.

"Aww no need to be embarrassed. It's cute", I said and pinched his cheeks without realizing the proximity between. Riddanth also not the lack of distance between and looked at me holding my place in a firm yet gentle which were placed on his cheeks.

A cough broke us apart making us jump. I then turned around to notice Advay standing near us holding a water bottle in his hands. Almost for a moment I forgot that he was here. I felt embarrassed but then I remembered the text and put on my best poker face.

"Do you need anything ", I asked getting up. He just shook his head and went inside the bedroom.

I was about to go after him but a door bell stopped me. I wasn't expecting anyone but hey, today was full of surprises. I wonder what this is.

Trust me when I say it was more of a shock than a surprise. Shailaja was at the door. Yeah, I had the same reaction.

"Hey, I wanted to meet Advay", she said impatiently with a sad face.

"How do you know he is here", I asked the first thing that came into my mouth.

"Ravvs told me", she said shuffling from foot to foot. I invited her inside even though that's the last thing I wanted to and showed her the room Advay was resting in and took off with the excuse of getting water. I just did not want to be a third wheel.

"Hey, I better leave now. I have to complete an assignment and my partner will kill me if I don't go now", he said and gave me a side hug.

"Bye. And thank you"

"No problem. So, I'll see you tomorrow in the class right?", He asked hopefully. I nodded.

"Good. Bye"

Great, now I was stuck with two love birds.

I took a glass of water as promised to them but the sight that greeted me made my hands tremble, squeezed my heart painfully and confirmed my suspicions.

Shailaja was in Advay's arms hugging him like he is her life support. She was crying softly, maybe because of his health condition, and Advay was comforting her and kissed her forehead with so much affection.

I bit my lip to stop the tears that were burning my eyes for release and ran from there to let out the sobs.
