23. "Get your Manzz."

A/N: Early update woot woot. I just realized that I haven't mentioned this before, but the Lexi in this story is Lexi Jayde.

MACKENZIE'S POV:

(Friday Morning, at the Ziegler house).

Maddie woke me up a little early this time. Claiming, she was going to go over to a 'friends' house. 

I texted Annie, asking her if she'd like to walk to school with me today. She accepted the offer and said she'd meet me at 7:30.

I took a quick shower and got changed. I wore another orange hoodie, with ripped jeans this time.

I needed to tell Annie everything that happened at the Orlando house before Lauren randomly walks up to us and acts nice. Annie would be confused as hell and would probably have some choice words to say.

I grab my phone and my bag, waiting for Annie. After a few minutes, she arrives.

We begin walking and she talks about Hayden and the double date, while I try to find a good way to bring up everything that happened yesterday.

I couldn't seem to find one. I decided to just rip off the band-aid.

"You better wear something nice, or-" Annie begins, but I leave her mid-sentence, finally blurting out what I've been trying to tell her for the past few minutes.

"Lauren and I are friends again!" I close my eyes shut, not wanting to see her reaction. 

I hear her shout a "what!" I squeeze the palm of my hands with my fingers, out of nervousness.

"Yeah," I mutter, my eyes still closed.

"Open your eyes, Kenz!" Annie laughs.

I do as told and turn my head towards her. She wasn't mad at all. In fact, she had a smile on her face. She handled it a lot better than I thought she was going to.

"You're telling me everything! If you leave out any details, I will murder you in your sleep!" Annie demands.

I chuckle and tell her everything. Everything that happened at the Orlando house. Surprisingly, there weren't many interruptions coming from Annie. Although she did fangirl a little bit when I told her about the kiss on the cheek.

"Okay. I just want to say, Lauren is Hayden's ex," Annie speaks. "I don't want to be a jealous girlfriend or anything... but if she flirts with him, I will hurt her."

I shake my head, slightly laughing to myself at Annie's last few words. "She won't. But if she does, I give you permission to."

Even though Lauren and I are friends now, I still don't completely trust her. And Annie is my best friend, I don't want to see her get hurt. But I doubt Lauren is even going to say a thing to me. We're on good terms now, that doesn't mean we're best friends again.

Annie changes the subject, and begins talking about a sensitive topic. "Let's talk about Johnny now." 

You guessed it. Johnny.

My heartbeat increases at the mention of Johnny's name. Even his name sounded hot. Okay, I really need to stop. He probably doesn't like, although that's not confirmed. I don't even know anymore, all of the flirting he's been doing is confusing.

My shoulders tense up, I roll them back, trying to get comfortable. "There's nothing to talk about. He has a girlfriend."

Annie scoffs, rolling her eyes. "It's pretty clear that he likes you. Even Lauren noticed it. I'm sure he'll break up with Lexi or something." She shrugs, stopping her walking to tie her shoes.
