A/N: This chapter took me about a week to write. I have a few pre-written chapters left, but I haven't been writing often so I'll do that today.
MACKENZIE'S POV:
( Previously:
Once I finish putting on my vest, I grab my gun and look up at Johnny.
"We good?" He questions, raising his eyebrows while pointing between the two of us.
I nod- and this time, he can see me, because of the light coming from the vest. "We're good." )
*End of flashback*
All 4 of us walked into the restaurant and got seated in a booth.
I sat beside Annie, while I was facing Johnny. Annie was facing Hayden.
We ended up coming in 2nd place for the laser-tag game. I'm surprised we didn't come in last, considering they lost half of their players for most of the game. Annie turned out to be really good at laser-tag.
Annie suggested we went to a restaurant after too because going to Laser Mania isn't the best idea for a date. I ended up having a lot of fun, although the vest was really heavy.
The waitress brought over the menus. She had long brown hair, with a skinny figure. She was gorgeous. She seemed so familiar. I liked her though because she didn't flirt with Johnny. Unlike some other people... cough--Loren--cough cough.
"Hello. My name is Jayden (hehe) and I'll be your waitress for today." She placed 2 menus on the table, giving us 4 a smile.
Jayden. She was my friend in fourth grade. I met her at the park, my mom would bring Maddie and I every week and Jayden would be there. We eventually stopped going once I went into middle school.
"Jayden?!" I gasped, while everyone at the table gave me a weird, confused look.
Jayden squinted her eyes, but put her hands over her mouth once she realized who I was. She began jumping up and down, while I started laughing.
I got out of my seat to embrace her into a hug. She was squealing like she used to when we were little. "I say your squeal is still the same," I chuckled.
We both pulled out of the hug, smiling like a bunch of five-year-olds. I looked back at my group of friends, they looked like they'd just seen a ghost.
I sat back in my seat, turning my head to Jayden.
She got out her phone, going on her contacts app. "I'd love to hang out with you and Maddie sometime."
I smiled, and wrote my phone number in her phone, while she wrote hers into mine.
Once she left, I turned back to the group of 3, who looked confused.
"Who's that?" Annie whisper-shouted.
"An old friend," I replied, shutting my phone off.
Annie relaxed, while Johnny was scrolling through something on his phone. Hayden was looking at the menu, licking his lips every few seconds. It's just food, who cares?
Food.
I haven't eaten in 5 days!
I need to eat. That's when the stomach pain kicked in. How did I not notice it before? I squinted my eyes, falling to the floor. I put my hands on my stomach, groaning loudly.
I heard a voice shout "Kenzie!" Hands were patting my back. I looked up, my eyes still slightly squinted, so I couldn't see much.
It was Johnny. Why is it always him?
