Chapter 34: Stop Dwelling

"Steven, try to talk to her. You've grown close with her, maybe you'll talk some sense into her." Pearl tries to convince me.

"But, she has a right to mourn. For all she knows she can't fix the manipulation on the three!" Amethyst argues back.

"It's not like Pinkie is gone! She's just trapped!" Pearl is done with the situation. I groan and cross my arms.

"Amethyst is right. Gone or not, it's still a huge loss for her." Garnet raises her glasses up and down.

"We need a plan of attack. White sent troops this soon, what if another fleet comes and we aren't prepared?! That could lead in many Crystal gems' lives!" Pearl exclaims.

"But we don't kno-" I try to speak my mind.

"Steven, White Diamond works differently than Yellow Diamond or Blue Diamond. She doesn't often get her emotions caught up in a war. But, when she does...let's just say corruption can get ten million times worse." Pearl seems to struggle saying that.

"How do you even know that, P?" Amethyst asks.

"I..uh.." She covers her mouth. I sigh.

"I'll just talk with Pink then. I'll see if I can try to talk with her, okay?" I give in. I walk out of our beach house and I jump up to the cliff. I slowly float down back on the ground and see Pink sitting. She seems..sorrowful. I sit on the ground next to her. Now is the time to try and talk..

"So...Pearl wants to discuss strategy with you." I drag on the sentence, it's a bit awkward.

"..." Pink just continues to look out to the sea. Is she thinking or...mourning? It's really difficult to tell with her.

"I'm sorry you had to poof Pinkie. I know she means a lot to you." I take pity on Pink.

".." Pink is still silent. What even happened? Probably the same thing when we had to fight Lapis and Peri...

"Can you just talk with me? I want to help you." I am getting a bit frustrated.

"You wouldn't understand." Pink sighs. I got her to speak!

"I can try to, but I won't understand at all if you don't even try to tell me." I try my best to help her.

"Okay, fine. Think of a person that's been there for you, since day one..think about all of the time you spent with that person. They were the meaning of loyal and as close as a friend can be. Practically family. Then, they disappear for a little bit. When they come back, they fight you. They don't speak at all, just begin to fight you. You don't know why they are, they are just..fighting. Finally, you find out the real reason. They were being controlled the whole time, and you are forced to hurt them to protect others." Pink describes the situation. I feel sorry for her, but we've all felt that with Lapis and Peri already. She's not the only one.

"Mom, listen. Everyone has felt that. Remember, there were three missing gems. That made three gems that got manipulated. You aren't the only one who's feeling this way. I know that you feel bad, but you need to get a plan before more gems turn like them. Maybe you'll even make a plan to fix it. But you can't do anything if you just mope around." I stand up to leave. I hear Pink move and stand up.

"You're right..I'm sorry for being so..childish. I'll create a plan with the other gems. Thank you, Steven." Pink jumps off the cliff and sticks the landing. Maybe we'll be prepared now.
