Surprisingly, going to the mart with Taehyung wasn't all that bad. Despite being a royalty, he seemed down to earth and his sense of humor was compatible with Sana's so the trip was quite comfortable. After having bought the ingredients for the meal, Taehyung also offered to help Sana in the kitchen. Initially she wanted to decline but he eventually managed to convince her. She didn't give him much to do though. His only task was to wash some veggies while she took care of the rest.
- "Are you working at Jeon's mansion?"
- "Yes." - Sana replied without averting her gaze from the cutting board, skillfully dicing a bunch of fresh potatoes and carrots.
- "Mhm. Then do you mind if I ask how did you get in the palace last time?"
Sana tensed visibly. Taehyung really did remember. If so, was the whole friendly act he put up just now only to lower her guard and make interrogating her easier? Well either way, she wasn't going to throw Yerin's name out there no matter what. Although, she'd probably have to come up with something to get him to drop the topic...
- "Ah!" - Sana hissed in pain. In an instant, Taehyung rushed to her aid.
- "Are you alright?" - He frowned at the sight of blood smearing her pale skin. - "Stay here, I'll go grab the medical kit."
Taehyung hurried out and soon returned with a white box in hand. He then told Sana to sit down and gently applied antibiotic cream on the wound before wrapping a bandage around her finger.
- "There." - He examined his handiwork once again to make sure the dressing was nice and secure. - "The cut is a bit deep so please avoid straining. If you need help with carrying stuffs, just tell me."
- "...Thank you."
- "And to make it heal faster." - Taehyung lifted her hand to his lips. The warm contact sent a bolt through Sana's veins, making her heart flutter. As the feeling brought back memories of the moment their lips met on their first encounter, her cheeks slightly tinted pink.
- "What the fuck is going on?"
An icy voice broke the mood. It belonged to none other than Jungkook, who stood by the entrance glaring at the pair with a dark scowl etched onto his face. As if the temperature in the room dropped several degrees, the atmosphere immediately went cold.
Shortly afterwards, Yeri also arrived. Upon seeing the scene, an audible gasp escaped her mouth. Suddenly conscious about how misleading it might appear to be, Sana's hand immediately retreated from Taehyung's hold.
- "Come with me." - Without waiting for any answer, Jungkook took Sana's wrist, dragged her upstair into his room then shut the door.
Before she could process the situation, Sana already found herself trapped between the wall and his body. Obviously Jungkook was in a very bad mood - the way his eyes shooting daggers at her was a dead giveaway. But why? If memory served her right, their most recent conversation during the trip went quite well. And Sana was certain she hadn't gotten into any argument with him since they got here.
- "Why was he touching you like that?" - He tightened his grip on her - "Why did you let him?"
Sana was about to explain when her eyes caught sight of the shiny golden ring on his bedside table. Once again, she was reminded of her previous conversation with Yeonjung, which hardened her resolve.
- "I believe it's none of your business."
The way Sana spoke so nonchalantly made Jungkook feel as if she just dumped a bucket of ice water on him.
- "But it is." - He spoke through gritted teeth. The guts of this woman for dismissing him like that after all things said and done! - "Remember. You're mine."
- "I'm your employee." - Sana corrected and looked straight at him, eyes completely serious. - "Please stop, you're engaged."
- "Oh? And why is this suddenly an issue? I didn't see you complaining about it when we were kissing in the library the other day, or the time before..."
- "Because I didn't know." - Sana quickly cut him off. She needn't him to bring those memories back - as they were usually accompanied by a weird pang after learning the truth about Jungkook's current relationship status.
A moment of intense silence passed on before a low humourless chuckle pierced through.
- "Alright, I see where's it going now." - Jungkook tilted her chin up, his face remained unreadable. - "You're going to tell me to break the engagement and choose you instead, aren't you? Just like those other girls."
Right, how could Sana forget. To Jeon Jungkook, she was just another of how many? Suddenly fuelled by renewed vigor, Sana surprised him by shoving his body off, harshly.
- "Whatever it was between us, it's over."
She was about to exit the room when Jungkook grabbed onto her again.
- "If you must know, this marriage is purely business, period. I don't give a damn about that girl."
- "That's not the point!" - Sana snapped, her patience was wearing thinner by seconds. - "Don't you get it? It's wrong to do inappropriate things with other women behind your fiancé's... mphmm"
Her next words was muffled since his lips took hers captive. Unlike the other kisses they shared, this one was rather furious, filled with frustration and desperation. So much bottled up emotions were poured into the kiss - emotions that neither of them could find a logic explanation for.
'But with you, it feels right.'
