Chapter 24

- "What do you want?" - Sana observed the masked man in front of her carefully. There was something oddly familiar about him, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Currently, they were sitting in a private room of a high class Japanese restaurant. The foods were already served, most of which happened to be Sana's favorites. Too bad, she wasn't in the mood to enjoy them.

Not when her deepest secret was in the hands of this shady character.

- "I want to help you." - His voice was distorted. Suddenly, Sana was reminded of the people who attacked Jungkook not so long ago. Cold sweat began to form on her back. If this person turned out to be one of those assassins, she might be in big trouble.

- "What do you mean?" - Sana furrowed her eyebrows. She didn't expect that answer.

- "You want to know what happened to your father, don't you? The gunshot that night..."

Sana froze. Never had she felt so exposed. This person... Not only did he know her real identity but also her past.

- "W...who are you?" - Sana asked with a trembling voice. Her father's case had never been made public. Most people only knew that there was a huge fire, but the shooting was never mentioned. Which meant, he had to be involved in that incident one way or another. - "Tell me."

- "WATCH OUT!"

Before Sana could even finish her sentence, the masked man already pushed her aside, narrowly dodged a bullet.

- "F*ck! That snake set me up." - The guy cursed and hurried to Sana's side. - "I'll be back for you."

Those were his final words before he dashed out. Sana stayed seated there, still a bit dazed. Everything happened too fast. She could hear fighting noises outside, and there was a part of her hoping it was Jungkook. However, the fact that shot was clearly aimed at her was unnerving. Would Jungkook harm her intentionally? Sana had faith that he wouldn't, at least not in such an underhanded manner. If anything, he'd probably confront her face to face.

- "Ah, look who we have here?"

A familiar male voice made Sana stiffened. Even though she only heard it a few times, it was really memorable.

'GD...'

Indeed, it was the man that never failed to put Sana on edge. Behind him was Taeyong - the white haired guy who first brought her to Jungkook's mansion.

- "So you're Ryu's daughter."

Sana lowered her head. After over 10 years of hiding, the truth finally came out. Worst of all, the person that discovered this was the main suspect behind her father's death.

- "Are you going to kill me too?" - Her voice was oddly calm, even though her insides were doing backflips and her heart was pumping wildly. Perhaps it was her pride that refused to show weakness in front of someone who could very well be the reason for the great Minatozaki clan's downfall. Even if it costed her her life, Sana would never let him have the satisfaction of seeing her crumble. Moreover, the moment she chose to make a deal with Jungkook, Sana already knew there was a high chance of getting caught, yet took the risk anyway.

Thus, she was prepared to face the consequences.

- "Too?" - GD shook his head. - "So you really believe that rumor about me being the one who killed your father huh?"

Sana immediately snapped her head up to look at GD straight in the eyes.

- "You don't mean..."

- "I didn't kill Ryu." - GD's expression turned solemn. - "Not only did I respect him as my mentor, I also think of him as a brother. I would never do such thing to him."

To Sana, it was an unexpected revelation. All this time, she thought that he was the one responsible for what happened. Every single clue she gathered led her to believe that. Yet, GD had no reason to lie to her, didn't he? There was nothing he could benefit from it. If he wanted to, killing her right there would be so simple.

- "Then... do you know who did?"

- "Yes, I just found out recently actually." - GD sighed. - "It was the group of assassin which called themselves The Shadow. Actually, the man who you just met was one of them."

Sana frowned. Something didn't add up. If that's the case, then why did that masked guy saved her from being shot?

As if reading her mind, GD continued:

- "You're wondering why they contacted you right? The truth is, they found out about your connection with Jungkook. They're trying to use you to destroy me by making you believe that they'll 'help' you. Because they know I'll be coming after them to avenge your father."

It was a lot for Sana to take in at once. What GD had said somehow made perfect sense. Those assassins who attacked Jungkook and that person talking to her today must have belonged to the same group. Suddenly, Sana felt like she was too naive. For a moment back then, she really believed that masked guy's words but now, she wasn't so sure anymore. All these hidden schemes and lies were messing with her head.

- "Do you know why I'm telling you this?" - GD placed a hand on Sana's shoulder, causing her to startle out of her thought and turned her focus to him. - "Because you're Ryu's daughter. I want to protect you in his place. I..."

CRASH!!

The sound of the door being kicked down made everyone shifted their attention to that direction. Sana was instantly filled with a strange sense of relief upon seeing who it was.

'Jungkook!'
