Chapter 28

- "You..." - Sana was trembling, overwhelmed by this unexpected reunion. She didn't think she would ever have the chance to see him again but there he was, right in front of her.

- "Yes, me." - He smiled. - "I told you that I'd come back for you, didn't I?"

Not wanting to disturb their reunion, the others left the room one by one.

Slowly, the handsome male approached Sana and sat down next to her bed, a warm smile on his face.

- "...Seokjin?"

It came out choked. Just saying his name brought back so many memories and emotions.

- "I'm glad my Satang still remember me." - Seokjin chuckled. - "You're pretty good at this hide and seek game. It took me years to finally track you down. Don't you think I deserve a bento for my effort?"

Back then, they used to play many games together. Everytime Seokjin won, Sana would make him a bento box. In the rare cases where Sana actually won, Seokjin brought her surprise presents. Sometimes it might be a picture he drew, a clay figure, or a flower crown,... mostly cute little handmade stuffs he crafted himself.

- "It's really you..."

Sana traced his face carefully, as if to confirm that he was real before finally broke down and sobbed uncontrollably. Seokjin pulled her into a warm hug, patting her back comfortingly. Ever since her father passed away, Sana had always tried to keep up a strong facade. She had no other choice because that was her only way to survive. But in front of Seokjin, for the first time in years, Sana willingly dropped the guard she worked so hard to build. In his presence, there was no need to pretend. Because he wouldn't judge her. Because he knew her past. Because he'd been through it all with her, when that tragedy happened.

Because, Sana knew he cared. He truly did.

- "I missed you, my Satang." - Seokjin whispered softly.

- "Did you?" - Sana pushed him away, a hint of accusation in her voice. - "Then all these years, why didn't you contact me? I thought you were stuck in that fire... I thought that you... that you..."

- "I'm sorry..." - Seokjin lowered his head. - "They didn't tell me where you were, saying that it's for your own safety. But trust me, I did all I could to find you anyway. I was afraid that you were out there somewhere, suffering alone in this world." - He gently wiped Sana's tears away. - "Don't worry, I'm here now. I'll do whatever it takes to protect you and revenge..."

- "Promise me that you won't!" - Sana quickly interrupted him. - "I'm scared. I don't want to deal with the feeling of losing someone dear to me again. I've been doing a lot of thinking these past few days. Looking back, I suddenly realized that I wasted too much time dwelling into the past while I should have cared more about the present and future instead. I'm tired. From now on, I just want to live my own life to the fullest. I hope that both of us can just let go of the past."

Seokjin stayed silent, absorbing her words. Sana certainly wasn't the first one to tell him to move on. However, he had always been quick to dismiss that idea. Yet, because this came from Sana herself, for the first time, he seriously considered it. Maybe she was right. Maybe it was time to stop. Seokjin knew damn well that proceeding with his plan would put many people's lives in danger, including Sana's. He didn't want that. She had been through enough. Sana deserved to live a peaceful, happy life away from blood and war.

- "Alright. I promise."

Sana'a expression instantly brightened up at his answer.

- "By the way, how come you're with those guys?" - She couldn't help voicing her curiosity.

- "One of your father's subordinates adopted me. Chanyeol is his son." - Seokjin explained. - "As for the other three, we've been partners-in-crime since long ago."

Who would have thought that the 'Jin' that Suga, Jimin and J-Hope mentioned was the same person as Seokjin - her childhood friend? The world was indeed full of wonder.

- "I..."

The loud noises from outside interrupted their conversation. Almost immediately after, J-Hope came dashing in, panic evident on his face.

- "Hurry, we have to move! GD's men are here!"

Seokjin signalled J-Hope to lead the way then turned to Sana.

- "Satang, hang on tight" - He said before sweeping her up into his strong arms.

- "I can walk..."

- "My leg is longer than yours." - Seokjin grinned teasingly. It was his personal style. Regardless of the situation, he always seemed so confident, relaxed and reliable. Maybe that's why Sana had always felt safe around him. He was like her knight in shining armor.

Seokjin carried her and followed J-hope to the secret escape route. Unfortunately, they were blocked and surrounded by GD's men before they could reach the exit.

- "I finally found you." - As usual, GD exerted a certain aura of authority and power, yet it seemed like Seokjin remained unaffected. He put Sana down and rubbed her head assuringly, then took one step towards GD's direction.

- "How about we make a deal?"

- "Speak."

- "You let us go and we'll never stay in your way again. I'll also return the stocks we stole."

- "Hmm... tempting, but no." - GD smirked. - "After all the time I spent hunting you down, can't let it all go to waste. Gotta say though, you're quite impressive. Lurking in the dark like the street rats you are all this time without getting caught. I'm gonna be honest. If it wasn't for our Minatozaki princess, everything wouldn't have been able to go so smoothly."

It finally dawned to Sana. So that was why GD kept her alive. He probably saw the masked man saving Sana from the bullet that night and connected the dots. Considering that they were concerned over Sana's safety, GD used her as a bait to lure them out. He only made up that fake story to prevent her from causing any unnecessary trouble that could mess up his master plan.

- "You... lied to me."

- "Bravo! Her Highness finally learned something!" - GD clapped mockingly. "Well, then I guess it's time to close the curtains for this play."

Instantly, GD's men pulled out their weapons and aimed at Sana, Seokjin and J-hope. However, before they could attack, suddenly there was a gun pressing tightly against GD's forehead. Everyone, except for Seokjin, was taken aback at this unexpected turn of events.

- "Let them pass. Or I'll pull the trigger." - A cold, threatening voice commanded.

A/N: In case you didn't understand the situation, I'll explain it again. If you read the previous chapters, you'd probably knew that GD was already suspicious of Sana on their first meeting and told his men to investigate her background carefully. Eventually, he was able to find out that Sana's surname was Minatozaki. He also discovered that the masked man (who's actually a member of the assassin group "The Shadow") wanted to meet with Sana. This led GD to suspect that "The Shadow" may have some sort of connection with Minatozaki, so he tested his theory by shooting Sana. When he saw the masked man save her, his doubt was confirmed. That's why he decided to make a plan to use Sana as the bait to catch and destroy "The Shadow". Speaking of "The Shadow", it's a group first created by Jin with two main goals: protect Sana and avenge Minatozaki Ryu. Most of the members are those who are either indebted to Minatozaki family or indebted to Jin himself. Too bad GD's men were too skilled so they couldn't kill him yet, but they did many other things to get in his way too. The incident during the vacation was also one of their plans: to capture Jungkook and use him to bait GD out. (Btw, Jin wasn't there so only after hearing his subordinate's report did he found out that Sana was actually with Jungkook...) As for the beginning, Jin was indeed captured by GD's men, but at that time they didn't know he was in "The Shadow" so they let him go after Suga, Jimin, J-Hope handed them the money. Chanyeol was captured for another reason (GD knew he's from The Shadow), but after Jin was rescued, he and the others worked together to get Chanyeol out of there. That's when GD found out all 5 of them are from The Shadow, but he wasn't able to trace them.
