Chapter 29

'Taeyong?'

- "Ah, no wonder why you were able to keep track of my activities. Seems like a rat infiltrated our pack huh?" - GD waved his arm, signalling his men to drop their weapons and move out of the way. - "If you wanna play, humour me. Let's see how far you'll be able to run."

- "You two go ahead, I'll stay here and help Taeyong." - J-hope told Seokjin then picked up the nearest weapon.

- "Alright. Take care of yourself." - Seokjin nodded and pulled Sana with him.

- "Are you sure we should leave them there?" - Sana glanced back nervously. - "There are only two of them while GD had so many people."

- "In the battlefield, you have to trust your comrade. It's one of the most important rules." - Seokjin calmly stated. - "I believe in their skills. Just like they believe in my ability to protect you..."

Seokjin suddenly stopped, causing Sana to almost crash into his back.

- "Why..." - Sana's next words died down when she saw what, or rather, who was standing in front of them.

Despite the bloodshot eyes with deep dark circles underneath and unkempt hair, Sana could instantly recognize him.

- "Jungkook..." - She wanted to ask what happened to him but stopped herself when she saw what he was holding.

A gun.

Sensing the danger, Seokjin immediately turned around... only to find that they were once again surrounded by GD and his men. At that moment, their situation was the depiction of the saying "caught between a rock and a hard place".

- "And the rat once again caught in the cheese trap." - GD smugly mocked.

Seokjin stiffened. He himself didn't fear death, but there was no way that he'd let any harm come to Sana, not if he could do something about it.

Seokjin faced Jungkook. Although he didn't like the guy, it was his best bet right then because of Jungkook's obvious attraction towards Sana.

- "Can you let us go?"

However, Jungkook completely ignored the plead. Instead, he raised his hand to aim the gun straight at Seokjin's heart. Alarmed, Sana pulled Seokjin back and came to stand in the front, unaware that her action caused the rage swirling in Jungkook's eyes to deepen even more.

- "Get out of the way." - Jungkook's voice was laced with venom. It was the first time that his hostility was directed at Sana.

- "No." - Sana shook her head in resolute refusal. - "I can't let you shoot him."

- "I'll give you 10 seconds. 10...9...8..."

Staring at his cold expression, Sana felt her stomach tighten. This cold and unfeeling man wasn't the Jungkook she knew. Although he could be playful, dominant and stubborn at times, Jungkook had never been this frightening. The bloodlust radiating from his presence made her skin crawl and her pulse quicken uncontrollably. Sana closed her eyes, mentally pray that all of this was just a horrible nightmare.

- "...3...2...1."
